Elephant in the room. When will Usyk start noticeably declining? He's 35 in 4 months.

he probably has another 2 years if he keeps himself healthy and in good shape.

If he fights Joshua, Joyce and Fury he can then retire afterwards. Legacy wise he's already achieved everything he can.

 

A few more years.

Hopefully he can get a few big fights in before then and make mega money.

 

He takes care of himself he's got 2 years and probably about 4 fights left. He looked razor sharp last night. It was a peak performance.

 

Have to agree - it's hard to see how Usyk can sustain that level of performance for another 24 months; he has been fighting a long time, has had injuries, and even though he clearly defeated Joshua, there is still wear & tear in each fight - how much did that win take out of Usyk?

Whilst I think Usyk is too fast for Joyce, if he declined noticably then that fight could also take a fair bit out of him to as Joyce is durable and has a hard jab.

Personally, I'd like to see Usyk vs Fury / Wilder (Fury lol) for all the marbles mid 2022.

Then Usyk should retire after, win/lose or draw

 

What I'm about to say is unpopular, but I'll say it anyway.

I think Usyk should retire immediately: no rematch for Joshua and no fight with Fury or Wilder. Last night's performance transformed Usyk from a hall of famer into a FIRST BALLOT unanimous hall of famer. I also think he's even more bad @ss for defending his title(s) in multiple challengers' backyards. He can retire today at 19-0 and leave everybody to wonder "what-if?"

 

He has maybe 1 more year. They usually decline after 35-36

 

Even if he starts slowing down (which he’s already doing if you compare him to his WSB iteration) he still has way too much boxing iq for anyone barring an on-form Fury to cope with. Who’s going to outbox Usyk in this current division? Whyte? Wilder? Ruiz? Only Joyce has the physicality and awkwardness to cause him issues, and as an Usyk fan that’s the one fight that’d give me reservations, even if he beat him back in the day.

 

He's already showing signs of decline.

 

Its definitely a big 4 right now with Uysk, Joshua, Wilder and Fury.

The whole generation will hit decline at about the same time.

He already is declining, and it's not a small one. I have said it long time ago, last time he was on his truly prime was against Gassiev.
Everything is slower now, his energy level, and punching output is lower, compare to his best, as well as his reflexes are not what it's used to be.
Still the guy is so so so good, he is still ahead of the rest.
But you could always expect a bad night, because of the age factors, just like he had one against Chisora.
Most people start declining physically and struggle with a lot of stuffs(recovery is harder, and a lot of other factors come harder already and etc), between 30-32.
This is no where near his form against Gassiev, or if you compare it to his WSB time.
He may have just 19 fights, but there was against living, hard opponents, and also he is wasting tons of energy on his camps, cause his training is insanely HARD. He is preparing for 15 rounds, 4 minute rounds with 30 sec. rest between, which is insane.
He also suffer some injuries which accelerate the process, and gaining weight for new division and putting more hard weight work, is not an easy thing at this age.
And i truly believe the guy is all natural, at least his body scream that, which is like 100x time harder, compare to the guys on PED, which obviously can increase your career lifespan.

I think Wladimir manage to be in his physically prime for so long, was an absolutely amazing, and it's very very hard to be replicate by anone.
I think Klitschko prime starting to left him, when he hit 37, and Manny died at that time.
Till then he was an absolutely beats, but decline after that was big, and obvious.

So my guess is if Usyk is lucky he can get 1-2-3 great camp, and if he had a good days, he can give us as much as 3 rock solid fights.

 

Does not matter. What he did yesterday goes into the history books. He defeated a unified 2 time dominant heavyweight champion who had beaten every man he ever faced. He is the man.

 

Usyk can make more money in his next fight than he has in his entire career to date. He will not be retiring now, or in two yeas time.

He'll fight until he is 39-40.
