Anyone notice how the fight ended with 5 seconds to go? The clock disappeared at 8 seconds and fight ended 3 seconds later with AJ on his last legs. This kind of stuff is precisely why I can't ever be Team AJ; the guy just has this whole institution around him run by Eddie Hearn ensuring that all those little indiscernibles - refs, scorecards, now round times - would go in his favour. I actually don't hate AJ like some people here do, and sympathised with him after the loss (even though I'm delighted Usyk won), but this kind of stuff drives me nuts and is exactly what's wrong with boxing. At least not even the judges could screw this one up with how comfortably Usyk won that fight...
They didnt want joshua to get knocked out and hoped the judges were going to do a uk job again. Blatant rigging in front of the whole world with that early bell.
Yeah, it's shameful and leaves a bad taste - same reason I can't full-bloodedly get behind Canelo, amazing though he is to watch. My g/f - who I'm weening onto boxing - called it at the time as well, and I just kind of dismissed it as boxing newbieness on her part. Just rewatched it and there it is, clear as day! She's a keeper, that one. With that said, I do want to see AJ in the mix, and would actually love to see him fight Wilder after he inevitably loses to Fury, then the winner of that fight Usyk/Fury winner. Titles or not, all those guys should fight each other.
Yeah, total joke, though when it was clear they were calling a UD at the end I got the good feeling that it'd be for Usyk. There was just no way the fix could've swung it so far as to give AJ the UD.
