If the likes of Pjakic and Cunningham and hurt by flirtja then why can't Usyk? We saw an average southpaw with slow plodding foot work cause Fury all sorts of problems and bust him open.
I think Fury wins and he can look at this in two ways. 1. He takes a leaf out of Chisora's book and turns up as Kronk Fury looking to bully Usyk and use his size and strength. Usyk didn't impress me against Chisora one bit and looked a completely different animal against AJ on the weekend. 2. He chooses to box with him but unlike AJ he has a high ring IQ whilst being long + awkward and has the ability to take his opponents best weapons away e.g. like we seen against Wlad and Wilder.
Anyone can get dropped, you said stopped. Big difference. AJ got through 12 v Usyk and Fury is a much tougher, fitter man than AJ who can tie up when need be. Usyk by stoppage is an awful prediction but sure look, best of luck with it.
Fury should combine the two. I don’t think there’s any reason to try and outbox Usyk even if you’re as highly skilled as Fury. If you’ve got 5 inches on someone then use it, bully them.
It was a long time ago and Furys evolved, but cunningham was quicker and out boxing him at first and rocking him. Tyson did what AJ couldnt on satdee (different opposition i know) and adapted, he leaned and mauled and sapped cunningham. i think Usyk would possibly outbox tyson early moving in and out, and then tyson would have the size, awareness and minerals to change tactics were AJ didnt. Still not sure how that would paly out by the end though!
You point out that he's been knocked down four times in his career. Two pre retirement, two post retirement. You said he was a better fighter pre retirement, so I am a bit confused, because Pjakic and Cunningham aren't great knockdowns for his CV. Perhaps we have different standards here. For me, Wilder is a vicious puncher. Being knocked down by him in no way contributes to an argument of questionable chin. He got up, and went on to absorb similar shots in the second bout. What's your criteria for 'questionable'? For me, the epitome of a questionable chin is someone like David Price - who has repeatedly demonstrated it with bad KO defeats. By comparison, I've heard some pundits claim that Lennox Lewis has a glass jaw because of the Rahman KO, and Ricky Hatton for Pacquiao. IMHO that's utter crap - even boxers with the best jaws get punched and knocked down occasionally. Questionable is way too far for Fury, imho.
He hates Tyson Fury. That's the only reason he writes what he writes, whether he knows that or not so no point wasting your time debating with him.
Because Fury is not the same boxer as he was 10 and 8 years ago respectively. He has made a lot of improvements since then, and seems to be the type that raises his level depending on the opponent. I'm pretty sure that you know that, Mitch.
Basically every single post he makes is an anti-fury one. Whether that’s making Wilder look bad or praising Joshua. It’s a bizarre obsession but I think he’s probably on the spectrum so I give some leeway.
Would be interesting to see how Fury played the build up. For big fights he clearly likes to create a bit of needle and animosity - not sure it would work with Usyk.
