Usyk said the times for a possible rematch will be lengthened a lot because he needs to rest and recharge. Very likely the event could happen around June or July 2022, not before. So as to Joshua..... It must be admitted that the statements made yesterday by Anthony Joshua after the London shipwreck against Usyk are both surprising but achievable. Even the Hall of Fame "Lennox Lewis between 1997 and 2003 lost twice (First with McCall then with Rahman) and then recovered the titles he owned and ended his career with unforgettable successes against Mike Tyson and Vitali Klitschko both beaten before the Yesterday Aj in an interview with Charles Brun believes he can fight at the highest level even if he fails to beat Oleksandr Usyk in the rematch. Saturday's defeat is more painful than that suffered by Ruiz Jr in 2019 but in New York in "foreign land ". On Saturday the Watford giant was beaten in front of his audience and this time we cannot speak of a lucky shot by the opponent as an excuse but of a real tactical technical failure. It hurts more! Fortunately Joshua only seems to be looking forward and if this is a comforting sign for the tide of his fans, today it seems an impractical project. “My way to the moment when I become champion of the four belts is only postponed. On Saturday I was beaten but in the heavyweight universe it has already happened. We are in a big circus where you fall and get back on your feet this is the greatest show on Earth. Soon I want to fight against Tyson Fury and Wilder even though I no longer have the belts without the belts. Owning so many titles, that's great, it's a legacy - but with or without belts, I'll fight anyone. My way to become absolute champion is still open - Soon there could be two competitive compatriots on a British ring to fight on tiptoe. Do you think this Is a boxer's desperate move to regain credit in the face of the world? Or Is there other?
May this would work for Joshua. Maybe Joshua could fight someone in Dec/Jan like Ortiz to get back into a rhythm, then fight Usyk in July in his rematch.
Do we know if AJ hasnt got a broken eye socket? If he does then surely he cant fight untill at least February
'Broken eye socket' is the go-to damage limitation excuse for a Matchroom defeat involving a boo-boo in the orbital vicinity anymore, trotted out before the puffy-eyed runner-up has even had a chance to be properly examined.
I think wilder is taylor made to knock robot joshua the eff out. Fury does too, since he wont have to really worry about joshuas power, because its not as devastating as wilders.
I'm not really sure Joshua loses a lot by forgoing the Usyk rematch and fighting Fury for the WBC instead. His pride will probably have him chasing after Usyk like a dog chasing a car but Hearn should be grovelling on the phone trying to salvage a fight with Fury for early 2022. Fighting Fury for 1 belt is still worth more $ than Usyk rematch for 3.
Joshua vs Wilder is the fight to make. Let Fury and Usyk snooze it out for the undisputed, then fight the winner.
I prefer Joshua V Fury for the build up and the event but Joshua V Wilder would be amazing. Somebody is getting KTFO.
It always has been the best fight in the division. At one time it also would have been between two undefeated champions, but even now it would be a huge fight.
I assume if it was broken Eddie Hearn would be in Trafalgar Square with a sandwich board showing the x-rays to passers by. But I do like the sentiment from AJ. This undisputed matchup with one guy who fights but takes losses and the other guy that goes missing whenever he wins has been holding the whole division hostage. Look how much fun it was when two top guys faced off! Let's do more of that and less belt-oriented maneuvering.
Well, if that fight is ever going to happen, you can argue that it might as well happen now rather than after a second defeat to Usyk (which threatens to be even more conclusive than the first). At this stage, yeah, I guess I'd happily see that fight if Usyk wants an extended period of time off. I dunno if Fury would want Joshua coming off a defeat, though. He's set a precedent of facing the name guys when they're on a run (interrupting Wlad's interminable streak of dominance and taking on a Wilder who'd iced every last guy he'd been in with).
Wilder knocks him spark out Wilder is coming for Usyk anyway after he beats Fury. Fury AJ will happen in 2022.
