Yeah I agree Mr L, it's just not a good look from Hearn and what would worry me if I was an AJ fan/supporter is the almost dismissive nature of they way AJ lost, this was in many ways far worse than Ruiz I. instead of talking about genuine tactics and the problems AJ will face in a rematch and even AJs confidence, which may really suffer after this.. it's just AJ has to be more aggressive and impose himself. Well yeah, because he isn't outboxing Usyk, but the question is.. how does he be more aggressive? If he throws more and doesn't put a dent in Usyk or is missing, punching air and tiring then his stamina is a huge problem. If he sticks on more weight and wants to be more explosive then if the fight goes past 5-6 rounds what state will AJ be in.. he was in desperate trouble late and that was a 17 stone AJ.. how long does a 18 stone AJ last? AJ isn't a grabber and jabber, he can't hold and lean on, turn a fighter, it's not in his game, he can't do that and never has.. and in 6 months they want him to learn to do it against a very intelligent fighter who he couldn't pin down. It's all too simple just to say "he needs to be more aggressive and impose himself" because AJ tried, he came out of the corner and walked right up to Usyk but within 10 seconds he ate a straight left hand and then thought better of it.. Usyk put AJ back in his box early. After that AJ was out jabbed, out thought and out fought at times, this wasn't razor thin Decision and AJ just needed a couple of earlier rounds, Usyk went through the gears late and AJ couldn't go with him. The most worrying thing nobody seems to want to talk about and Hearn didn't really mention is was the amount of times AJ was buzzed, I'm not suggesting he was out on his feet or even on the verge of going down every time but Usyk buzzed him and in the final round was close to dropping him. They have all seemed to ignore the fact Usyk can hurt AJ and they are basically just saying "steam in".. They all say they accept the defeat and Usyk was the better man on the night but now there are tons of reasons.. and a right hand excuse being floated around. They are talking out of both sides of their mouths, according to Hearn.. AJ had a terrible night, didn't do anything he should have done, wasn't at his best but still only lost 7-5... That's basically what he said at one point in that interview, that was never 7-5, it was 9-3 and if you are bias towards AJ maybe 8-4, and like you said.. it was never even after 8, never. If half reminds me of "Whyte was up at 8" from Hearn after the first Povetkin fight, it's just not remotely near reality. Hearn is good at spin and selling a fight but even the casual fans know what they saw Saturday night, it was almost a one sided boxing lesson. Maybe it's all mental games like you say but I think if it is they have picked the wrong fighter to do it with, Usyk isn't going to be double guessing AJ and McCracken, he isn't far too experienced and clever for all that nonsense.
First off if you see my previous comment(i actually made an appreciate thread for Joshua) i was praising AJ for not using excuses at all. I was praising Hearn too. But then he say that the fight was even going into the 8 rounds, and he totally lost it from that point. HE is on every s***** media/channel out there explaining how it was pretty much Joshua failed to deliver, wrong gameplan(as in this way you are not blaming the fighter, but his team), that Joshua fought the wrong fight, and all that b.c. Yeah he ain't stupid and have good PR, and knows how to talk, and not made it obvious with the excuses, but he is made plenty of them, and he is praising Usyk here and there(otherwise he would look silly). After the fight his interview were okish. He did made a excuse with the wrong gameplan, and AJ will comeback and improve, which i was okay, obviously you going for damage control and this is normal stuff, but after that it's becoming a bit too much. And let me tell all of you something. AJ gameplan was not as bad, as someone may think. They are not stupid. Their plan was not just stay in there and box, and you will outdoing him at the later rounds, which would be insane. They do the same thing with Pulev, boxing at a distance, where Joshua feels good, and they were expecting just like with Pulev, and as well as Povetkin, at some point Joshua to catch him with something big, and go from that point on to either score KD or KO him. But the problem is they underestimate Usyk. He was faster than they expected, and he was way quicker on his feet than they could have imagined. Joshua couldn't catch him at all, cause Usyk was moving all around him. He was there, in the next second, he was not. If Hearn is so smart, why didn't he advise Joshua and his team to not fight like that before the fight ??? Wasn't it obvious, that this ain't going to work to box with the better boxer way before the fight ???? Let me also bust another theory that if Joshua was his previous aggressive beast, he would have KO Usyk. But Joshua always wait to catch someone with something big and then start unleashing. How is that going to work against Usyk, when Joshua can't set up his power shots ? That was the reason his Right hand to look so funky, Usyk was so fast, Joshua didn't have the time/speed to set up the right hand and to land it with full rotation, and full weight on it. Yeah he did catch Usyk on few occasion, but it wasn't a full power shot, because Usyk was so quick on his feet. Also going for blown will make you way more open, and Usyk is an excellent counter puncher, and will make you pay for every miss, and Usyk is not a stationary target. And if you failed with the barrage, no matter what your name is, you going to have a huge recovery rounds, cause you unleash full force. And against a highly paced opponent as Usyk, good luck with that.
Also Hearn said fighters would give a left testicle to get on that card.. and I heard Usyk paid that price. So not only did he have an injured left hand.. he was missing a left nut. It's what I heard, so I don't know if it's true but AJ fans can't say it isnt....
This is a very good look at the tactics, and the right question team AJ need to ask to themselves. This is my take: I think he should 100% change his whole team. I was behind Rob McCracken in the Ruiz fight, cause it was a Joshua mistake, not his team. He was doing everything alright, he just start swinging wild and goes for the kill on a target that wasn't ready to go down, and he pay the price. They did the right thing, improved him, and to the necessary changes to his game and he comes and win the rematch. But this time whether they got the tactic wrong or not, Rob between the rounds was saying nonsense like: You are doing great; Brillian AJ brilliant; Great stuff, great stuff AJ, keep him behind the jab(or some sort of b.c.). I mean we were in London, but do you really expected that kind of robbery Rob? This time he definitely need a change. But in my mind, and i maybe wrong here, he needs to rebuild, give himself time, take a few easy fights this time, and then come and challenge for the title. This can hurt Hearn and Joshua ego, but i think this would be the better move. You say it perfectly. Just because add more weight and become more aggressive, that doesn't mean he will have success. Against Ruiz it was obviously what goes wrong, and how to fix it, now it's way different. Usyk ain't a static fighter. Gaining more weight, will mean less stamina, and he will be slower. If you cannot setup your punches, your power is useless. And how is he going to setup his punches, when Usyk is that quick on his feet? Usyk won't let him do that. Main reason Joshua didn't even land a full rotation, full power with all the weight shot against Usyk, was because Usyk was just too damn quick. Yeah i know that Joshua landed the right hand, but if you watch closely, it was not fully rotated, and not put all the weight on it, simply because Usyk was that damn fast, and Joshua was scared of what may come back if he fully goes for his shots. And one last thing is that they think this is the best version of Usyk, that could ever shows up again, but Usyk said it himself that this wasn't him at his best. He is still acclimatizing to the division, and he may become stronger, and better. And let's not fool ourselves this is 100% past prime Usyk. His best days was at CW, and the injury accelerated the decline process, the last time i truly saw a prime Usyk, was against Gassiev. But that doesn't mean he can't better in certain other aspects, that he was lacking before. He may lose here and there, but also gain here and there. And i think this could happen, because of the acclimatizing process, and that he will be more used to HW speed, their power, his new weight and everything else.
British judge Howard Foster scored it 115-113 Usyk He gave the first two rounds to AJ. WTF?! This content is protected
Aj Fans are Entering the wilder realm... 1. "omg fire mckraken its his fault, Aj needs a new trainer" 2. "omg there was somehting wrong with Aj he didnt lose he just didnt do anything"(drugged by Fury and breland?) 3. "omg his arm was hurt" im sure a month from now we will have another 5 Inshallah I will tell you why Anabolic Aj couldnt do anything because the whole night Usyk was touching him with tiny shots and if you can be touched you can be hurt and aj new if he committed to anything Usyk would nail him so he decided to live to fight another day. Trust me if AJ even had a stubbed toe he wouldn't have fought.
Manny just copied the torn rotator cuff from Floyd when he used it for his poor performance against Castillo.
Joshua's injuries never seem to require hospitalization or surgery. Joshua's injured arm doesn't require surgery. His crushed orbital bone turned out to be a black eye. His panic attack before Ruiz 1 was soothed once he saw James Corbin in the audience. Meanwhile, Wilder has had at least three surgeries in recent years after fights, including surgery after the Fury rematch to repair his torn bicep. And people pretend they don't hear that and joke about his costume. Can you imagine if Joshua actually needed surgery after a loss? God forbid. People light candles when he gets a black eye.
Watching the fight you could see AJ was barely throwing his right hand. When he did land it, it hurt Usyk but he always eased off without throwing more. AJ fought with 1 arm and still caused lots of marks on Usyks face. It will be lights out for Usyk in the rematch Hearn did not mention it in any interview because it was not supposed to get out, it was just over the phone to Fearon, Hearn didn't think he would mention it on his podcast
OK fine. I expect Joshua's arm to be fully healed in the rematch when Usyk takes him to school again.
