Sky need to get some boxing experts in that aren't ex-fighters. They need some trainers & journalists out there, not people who are part of the club.

 

To be fair, loads of boxers do this. Hopkins was a master of it. He might as well just interview himself.

 

I'm assuming Smith called the AJ v Usyk fight accurately because Hearn moved to Dazn. It shows he isn't completely useless, but it's a pity that business politics is the reason he called his first fair fight in years.

 

I’ll admit I like his commentary most of the time. He clearly loves boxing and when he gets loud and excited it adds to the drama.

Could almost recite his commentary of AJ vs Ruiz round 3 word for word I’ve watched it so many times haha

 

I like his passion, but he tends to repeat the same old clichés, particularly when excited. He really needs to broaden his boxing vocabulary.

 

Yeah, agreed. The cynic in me thinks Eddie and Kugan have played a blinder here, and Adam has played right into their hands with that response.

A not too subtle reminder to Joshua that Matchroom and Sky aren't natural partners any more. And now AJ's a Matchroom lifer… wouldn't this lovely offer from DAZN be worth considering…?

I think that a large proportion of how far he has come with Sky can literally be put down to his voice. If he sounded like Tyson Fury before his throat problem, he'd probably still be cleaning dishes and making cups of coffee.

 

The voice is huge.

Watched a bit of Palace v Brighton on Monday with co-comentator Karen Carney simply there to tick a box.

Setting aside listening to her Matt Macklin type comments, her voice is simply not commentator material as it is difficult to hear her points and that is before before the Brummie accent kills the ears.

Yes, Glen McCrory and Ian Darke had good voices for it. Jim Watt doesn't have a strong voice but it didn't set him back.

I think there are women who can do a good job in some sports, but I've yet to see one in football. Karen Carney is a disaster. Her voice is also not very well-suited.

Adam Smith's voice is really distinct and it looks like someone has dubbed the voice over the picture when seen in interviews. I can't believe that voice comes out of that man.

He seems pretty confident AJ is staying on sky, but Eddie alluding to him joining DAZN. He should be on DAZN anyway, a joke how he's the only one not transferred over.
