That's why he wouldn't allow Joe the chance to crowd him. Louis pounces slow-starting Frazier like he did Baer. Quarry was backing up Frazier. Quarry should have been fighting at 175 lbs.
fantasy didnt Louis have trouble with way less skilled then Frazier so how could joe survive Frazier he would be done and finished fast
And Frazier habit of starting slow would mean Louis would be bum-rushed out the gates. I think Frazier, stylistically, is better for beating prime Ali. But Louis was bigger, hit harder, was better with combination, and broke down fighters better. Footwork is a toss up. Defense and work-rate go to Frazier.
But he learned from those fights. I think Godoy and Farr and the closest analogs to Frazier. Also, Quarry was doing just fine against Frazier before tiring. Louis lacked Quarry's guile, but he was far more dangerous offensively than the undersized Quarry.
another post where people act like the fighters Louis fought gives him some type toughness for taking shots Louis misses shots and gets combos Frazier has no trouble with a person who just sits there with no real footwork
What about Joe's slow starts, and the fact that Foreman completely unraveled his offense simply by pushing him backwards? Frazier has attributes over Louis, for sure. He definitely was better at crowding and not getting hit. But against Louis he's gonna get hit. Hard. Relentlessly.
did you see what you said they were the closest Frazier movement was way better I dont rank none of louis era great it all was trash compared to 70s-90s as far as a movement and skill level
well thats not right really George had footwork it just wasnt to good I never have seen his footwork just look like louis era where it looks like he is tip toeing
Frazier would be hit but not enough like I said Frazier didnt have trouble with people who consist of being in front of him using no real movement to avoid his shots
No one is disputing that they were better, but it's a clear indication that Louis had familiarity with that style. Quarry was the greatest Hw P4P of that era. But only P4P. He should have been fighting at Light Heavyweight. He did fine in the early rounds against Frazier. You know who finished the job against Frazier? Foreman. Louis is closer in size to Foreman than he is too Frazier. He's much bigger and harder hitting than Quarry.
their footwork is fine for what they do. In joes case, he's on balance and in position to throw any punch at any time with power and finesse. It has it's limitations, that's part of why it's not taught. It's also really hard to pull off, also why it's not taught. French Restuarants won't supersize your meal, does that mean they're not as good as McDonald's?
I know George did but like I said his movement was way better then those in louis era its not even a compare louis wouldnt have no type of movement or defense to stop from getting hit how does he win to you without those
