Uh... he had only fought 49 fights, and for 8.5 years. He was undefeated and in his physical prime. Really, he couldn't get himself in good enough condition to beat Johansson!? Ingo had tons of talent and was very dangerous; admittedly, it's only from hindsight that we realize how quick he was to go off the tracks. But this was a raw and limited fighter who'd been largely untested. What exactly was wrong with Marciano that he couldn't rally to muster for Ingo? A Joe Frazier type, fine. But Ingo!?

You can't have it both ways. Either the dude was super duper great, or he had serious limitations.

Again, there seems to be a direct relationship to how grandiose the claim and the inability to support it factually.

Do you mind providing the fights where I can see Charles and Walcott demonstrating skills superior to Beterbiev? These are guys who struggled with Joey Maxim. The same Joey Maxim that MIDDLEWEIGHT Ray Robinson was pelting before blowing his wad. You know what would happen if you put Maxim in the ring with Beterbiev? You'd be charged with homicide.

No one is saying Wilder is a Heavyweight Marquez. The dude can actually be painful to watch. It's funny at first and then you just start to cringe. But he gets the results.

If you wanna say P4P Marciano is better, I can get down with that. But Marciano got suspicious nods against Lowry and LaStarza, went life and death with Walcott and Charles, and was decked by Moore. And still he has these pantiless groupies who try to make him into an all star.

Conversely Wilder murks dudes twice Marco's size.

Lomachenko is more skilled than any fighter who has ever laced up gloves. Why doesn't he just waltz in there and take Wilder's scalp? All wilder does is throw wild punches, after all.

Maybe if you watched his fights you wouldn't be embarrassing yourself like this. Do you really need me to hold your hand to cross the street?

 

Ingo was a one trick pony, good right hand waving wand jab and no hook,he also had a less than sterling chin. His fame rests on two fights his ko of Machen whom he caught cold and refused to rematch and his sloppy demolition of Floyd once in three fights.I dont think the best version of Ingo beats the Charles and Walcott of their first Marciano fights and I would pick even that old version of Moore to beat him too.
Marciano was troubled by back problems in his later fights and by an unscrupulous manager who took an under the table cut from several of his purses.I dont think Ingo would have worried him at all as an opponent and am confident that had Marciano rekindled his desire and been able to get into the sort of condition he was as champ he would have come back for Ingo. Of all the pro fighters there has ever been ,one of the least likely,[many would say with certitude the least likely], to be leery of an opponent would be Rocky Marciano.
Was he a great fighter? Yes undoubtedly!
Joey Maxim had a great chin which withstood some of the most heavy duty punchers of his era.His resume shits all over Beterbiev's there is absolutely no debate about that.Among those who failed to ko him are Charles x4 ,Walcott x3,Murphy,Satterfield,Patterson,Marshall,Moore x3,Nardico,Olson, and Hatchet Man Sheppard managed in once in three tries! WTF has Beterbiev beaten to compare with those names?
Watched whose fights ,Fury's? I've watched 85/90%of them ,some from ringside going back to his first fight with John McDermott when he won a very debateable decision. Loma is hugely talented ,more talented than Robinson B Leonard,R Leonard,Jones Jnr, Pep,Jofre,etc ? That is a very contentious point how many of them have you seen? Before you belittle other posters I suggest you learn substantially more than you at present appear to know.Walcott can be seen demonstrating his skill in the 2 louis fights, and against Ten Hoff .Charles against Oma,Valentino,Layne,and Walcott 1&2 .
NB Marciano had his last fight in 55.Ingo did not win the title till1960. He had added 45lbs to his frame by then, and couldn't round himself into shape again.

 

So if Ingo was such a bum, why didn't Rocky roll him up? Again, Rocky had a short career and got a late start, so if that little mileage was enough to do him in, you're doing him more harm than good.

Maxim could step and jab, and entered every fight well-conditioned. He didn't go for the kill, he was willing to lose a fight as long as it meant hearing the final bell. That's why he lasted the disatance against so many opponents. It was a much sloppier sport and more for entertainment. It looked as much like a Toughman Contest as it does modern Boxing.

If you cannot see Beterbiev;s superior skills it's your own fault. I really have to question what experience you have in the ring or as an athlete to put those guys over Artur. You're being ridiculous.

Just out of curiosity, which do you think flies faster, a Generation V F-16 or a Korean War F-86 Sabre?

 

The fact that you reference the McDermott fight shows how desperate you have become. How about how Ali struggled with journeyman Doug Jones, or should have been DQ'd against the consummate Tomato Can, Henry Cooper?

Fury has never lost. He is 6'9 260 pounds, and is a defensive maestro. With only a few months of training to fight offensively he became a human buzzsaw against Wilder.

Fury would **** multiple past champions on a single night. Pick 3 or 4 of your favorite Heavyweights all-time, and give Fury 15 rounds. He has them all wearing purple lipstick and dresses in the morning.

I don't know how we would established who was more talented. You can dismiss pre-VADA guys like Jones. But look what Benny Leonard had to come up against. Pep revolutionized Boxing, but his refusal to hurt guys puts him below Loma in many respects, as Loma has finally taken defense one step further but like Duran uses it to apply killer offense - against bigger men.

loma is more skilled because he arrived later. It's like laying bricks - one on top of the other.
