Do we really need to list all the people who decked Frazier for you? He fought bums worse than Louis fought. He struggled with Quarry's fast start and Foreman's size. Hell, even feather-fisted Ali had him badly hurt in the 2nd round of the rematch.
the footwork was fine for there era and before only they would have to advance to even make it to the pros in 70s
but those bums you say did they have better or worse movement then the ones in Louis era this match would be based on movement not resume so who Louis beat doesn't matter all his opponents was inferior in the movement department the people who beat frazier like George would go undefeated in Louis era same with ali nobody would be a challenge
So many are on the band wagon of Louis its hard to go against it. BUT! Let's look at some facts here. Louis didn't have great foot speed, and though he was capable of different angles in general he didn't use it, hell, he normally didn't need to. Louis pushed his jab a lot, leaving the jab out to long can get your head knocked off against Frazier, just ask Ali. Louis was stopped in his prime against Schmeling, this can't be ignored when one thinks about the many times he was hurt badly in his prime, including Lt. Heavy Billy Conn at about a 170lbs had Louis out on his feet. Galento who's wide sweeping hooks shouldn't have landed, and wouldn't have landed against any fighter defensively sound, had Louis on his ass multiple times. Put Frazier in his place, does Louis survive? ( If any of you think Galento was anywhere near Frazier in ability, focus on watching golf) Though being aggressive against Louis could get your head decapitated, Frazier for all of his aggression was as defensively sound as a fighter that fought his style could be. Ali landed a ton of punched on Frazier, but he missed more than he landed. Ali didn't have the power of Louis, but his hands were faster. I've said many times Louis was, and still is the greatest offensive heavyweight in history. But in other area's he was average like defensively, and ability to take a clean punch. His offensive firepower usually hid those faults. Louis had the ability to stop Frazier of course. His short range power was better than any heavyweight in history, and with any punch, left hook, right hook, uppercuts, his punches usually didn't travel more than a foot, yet his power was devastating in close. His Combo's were accurate and instinctive, he never wasted punches. With all that said. I believe strongly Frazier had the style and physicality to beat Louis. Frazier's bobbing and weaving to a beat in his head only he understood and could hear , his chin usually protected by that cross arm defense was hard to find cleanly. That left hook, thrown from angles most fighters couldn't use with a uncanny timing and accuracy, in close are at mid distance. Theirs a few fighters that had a heavier left hook. Tua , Morrison, Liston, possibly Louis . But no fighter in heavy history had a better hook in terms of power, timing, speed and accuracy. Frazier's ability to slip and counter is often overlooked. Theirs a rd in the FOTC, where Frazier dropped both hands and dared Ali to take his best shots. Ali punched at him with a super quick combo....... He missed every punch. His ability to counter Ali, Mathis, and Ellis, all quick fisted fighters is simply outstanding when considering he did it using the left hook on most occasions. The fight early on would be blazing, most have this opinion Frazier was a slow starter, but that usually was fighters were typically trying to move away from him early on trying to keep distance. Louis wouldn't do that, Louis would be right their confident he could land on Frazier early . And He would. But I see Frazier riding out the storm, and start timing Louis with those sweet quick hooks to the head, body, hips, and arms, This is where Louis defensive liabilities would began to show, and the lack of great foot speed to get out of the danger zone. If Frazier isn't stopped by the 5th rd, he would start smoking by the 6th, 7th rd. By the 9th, fight would be all Frazier, he'd stop Louis by the 10th, an upset of epic proportions on this site lol.
Beautfiul synopsis. But it neglects teh reality of Louis-Max Baer. And what Quarry and Foreman did to Frazier.
Louis wasn't prime for the 1st Schmeling fight, leaving your jab out there makes you vulnerable to the right cross Frazier did not have one.I like the rest of your post!
What Forman did have absolutely no connection to Louis because they fought NOTHING a like! Not even close. Foreman's style was uniquely his own built around his biggest attribute. Enormous physical strength!. Louis in no shape or form fought like , or probably couldn't fight like Foreman. He didn't have the physicality! And I thought past prime Frazier beat the hell out of Quarry. What's the relation?
Frazier was one of the few heavyweights in history that had the timing to counter the jab with the left hook. And another story everyone feeds on but wasn't true is Frazier didn't have a right hand. Of course his right hand wasn't anywhere close to his left, but it could get the opponents attention. If Conn could hurt Louis with the right hand I'm sure Frazier could.
im not into being asked dumb questions so now I know your trolling I asked u a question and you said the boxers who beat joe had worse movement which they didnt so you lied your done you lost and then skipped over the rest I said which I dont like being ignored like that
