Hi, I'm 26 going on 27 in July. I want to lose some pounds which is why I'm working out, but I thought about taking up Boxing as a hobby. Is 27 too old? The reason I ask is because I've never taken up a sport before, but perhaps I can learn the ropes. To be honest, I just want to use it to tone up and maybe do some amateur and regional fights. I don't want to do it professionally. Thanks again
No, go for it. Don't expect a spot on the Olympic national team or anything, but yeah, take it as far as you can. Find a coach you click with and who KSAB (both are important) and grind as hard as you can without over-training, mind your form, and do all you can to avoid injury since you won't have the resilience (or luxury of time) a younger person might.
No mate i would say go for it. I had my first amateur fight at 30! Only had 5 in total but enjoyed them. What i would say is to take it seriously, even amatuer boxing at the novice level can be quite gruelling! Set small goals, i dont know what country you are in but in the uk you will need to join an affiliated amateur boxing club, join up and start to train and take it from there.
Not too old at all, go for it. I'm currently trying for a comeback (modest 3 fight record) aged 32. If you live a good life, age shouldn't matter (within reason!) Good luck.
Yeh mate from Liverpool but boxed in Wales lives here since 2007. Used to go Stanley abc for a bit as a kid on Stanley road kirkdale but not sure that’s even running anymore, certainly not in the same location anyway
I’m from around there and never heard of it so I’m guessing not. Haha. Love North Wales I’ve heard Rhyl is full of shrewd scousers who bought cheap houses there.
