Is Otto Wallin The Darkhorse Of the Division?

I think he won a rematch against Povetkin, because Povetkin deteriorated a lot.

 

Wallin isn't even a top 15 HW. I can literally name 14 other HW's that would have their way with him.

I'm shocked that this even need be said.

But he is extremely solid

 

I thought Wallin was brought in as a supposed light touch for Fury in the same vein as Schwartz earlier in 2019. Man that backfired and Fury was lucky they didn't stop the fight because of that cut. But Wallin looked good and then the cut happened, I feel like he was focused a little too much on the cut and got away from his fight plan. He also appeared to gas as the fight wore on, he did however really hurt Fury in round 12.

The Fury fight was a huge jump for him in competition and he did way better than what was expected. The Whyte fight will see if he's a top ten guy or a fringe contender.

 

If he beats DW I will agree, don't see it though. Not a big enough punch on him.

 

If Whyte can't beat Wallin with ease, then he needs to hang them up. Wallin is a euro level heavyweight.
His timing was great for the Fury fight and took advantage of the offer given to him - I commend him for that. BUT, he is euro level. If Whyte has anything left even he will show us that.

 

Whyte struggled with Chisora, Wach, Parker, Rivas, Povetkin.

Sure he won all of those fights but it seems likely that Wallin will push him too. Unless he's Lucas Browne tier he'll do alright.

 

Ofc course and Pov for sure had been booked cos he was over the hill.
However Povetkin was proven world class am superstar KBer and boxer, Olympic Gold medalist and World Championship Gold medalist before he turned into a pro boxer.
Povetkin was over the hill since he turned 37 and no wonder: he had competed at elite level since late teen years.

Wallin looks that was part time boxer at least during some time even when he was a pro boxer.
While Pove was " amateur " amateur boxer in am ranks.

He came on very strong in the 12th against Fury after an absolute mauling and battering for about 5 rounds

The late fading vs Breazeale was concerning but Wallin claimed to be ill before the fight. It may be BS, we'll have to see but Whyte doesn't have the best stamina either. If Parker hadn't suffered a concussive headbutt KD and been more tenacious he'd have stopped Whyte, even with his lack of punching power and Whyte's chin isn't even as good as it was back then.

 

Yea but look at what Furys done to wilder and usyk has done to Aj....i think it's safe to say wallin has shown more ko power than both of them so i wouldnt say it's impossible for him to ko people now that he has more attention and hype and probably more dedicated trainers.

 

Wallin does not have more KO power than Joshua and Wilder. He has enough power to hurt them definitely but he doesn't punch harder than them.

 

i never said he did im just saying he went from no mans land to being competitive with fury and he looks like he has enough power to me and could drop some people, it's boxing if he comes in and starts landing some big shots i can see him eventually dropping people.

What i was trying to say was fury showd he can hit harder than people think and so can usyk maybe wallin can too? but wallin is a boxing first kinda guy not looking for the ko just like fury and usyk.

 

From what I’ve seen from one I’d have to say no. He looks good but not like someone who’s gonna take over the division. The Whyte fight should tell us a lot, I think both guys are gonna have their moments and make it interesting
