I'd rather see Ruiz III rather than Usyk II. The Usyk fight wasn't that competitive, it was 9-3 clear in AJs backyard, AJ hurt multiple times, hanging on for dear life by the final bell. At least with Ruiz we know if he actually trains it should be a good fight, AJ was in "THE BEST SHAPE EVER" for Usyk and was beaten comprehensively.. AJ isn't getting fitter or stronger. So what's the point of Usyk II? We've seen the best version of AJ get schooled.
The point is AJ could definitely do better with a change in tactics. And it will almost certainly be dramatic. I see AJ being the underdog definitely, but you'd be a fool to write AJ off for that. It was competitive in periods. Usyk was hardly unscathed, Joshua won 4 rounds in my opinion and in the judges opinion, and many other people's opinions.
He beat AJ once, AJ beat him once Thats enough to justify a decider I dont care myself but thems the facts And i reckon quite a few Hispanics will want to see it And that demographic might actually put the most back in to boxing
Would you say the same for every champion in history that rematched their opponents once and beat them? "you still owe them another fight"?. Nah man. We don't know if Ruiz will show up just for another pay day. That's the thing. Ruiz needs to show he actually gives a **** anymore, and he hasn't done that for over 2 years. If Ruiz keeps losing weight, staying in shape, and fights another top fighter, then maybe we'll see. But over the last 2 years, he's partied, stuffed his face, gained a tonne of weight, wasted everyone's time with that rematch standing there to eat jabs, and didn't return for like 18 months, just to put on an unconvincing performance vs Arreola. No where near enough interest in this ****.
At no point have i mentioned anyone owing anyone anything I said a third fight is justified And again you're dismissing the hispanic dollar quite naively And get over Ruiz's last fight He was in no danger whats so ever once he got up
Joshua has proved to be better than Ruiz, but you can't pretend like the loss in the first fight never happened when ranking Joshua.
I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree. I want to see Ruiz fight someone worth while and beat them, before Joshua agrees to fight him again. I don't believe being 1-1 with someone automatically justifies a 3rd fight at all. If Ruiz had bothered to ****ing train and show some heart and desire in the 2nd fight and it was close, then ok, but it wasn't close. It was a one sided shut down, and since then Ruiz has done nothing to worth in the last 2 years. Hispanics who like Ruiz may want it, but no one overseas really wants to see it, especially considering how boring the 2nd fight was. Ruiz needs to show some semblance of quality and dedication. Fair to him he's lost weight, but that's not enough. And now who is he calling out? Charles Martin and Glowcacki.... He's at least another year away before being a true contender again.
I'd like to see a rubber down the line if the stars align on and both do do well. Right now it seems a bit far off, though.
Avenging a loss doesn't take that loss away. It just makes you 1 :1 people act like winning a rematch erases the loss
