Sanders often went higher than that later in his career. I saw him fight Vitali. I’m not talking about weights and measurements though. I’m just saying he was big person, sort of like how Foreman was big.
Yes, but it's not a "technical skill", which is what Bokaj was referring to and what I was asking about, you dimwit!
I give him credit because of the layoff .. but this is the fight they both should be judged on because they are stepping it up in competition. And there is no excuse for having the incredible active 10th round and completely shutting it down for the 11th and 12 th , imo ,,, they both looked bad in this fight .. all good think we disagree on this one
It is a technical skill considering that you’ll get punched in the face if you neglect the technical know how of when to let your hands fly. Calzaghe’s career was defined by this skill.
Fair enough, if that's your point of view. Fury is quite unorthodox, which might not look good to some, but it feeds into his unpredictability and works for him. That's his craft. That's what I call skill. Looking text book, like Usyk, works for him, as well. He probably does look better doing some things, but I don't necessarily consider that as actually being better. Skill levels are not easy things to measure because there are no hard and fast rules. We can take a view on effectiveness, in live application but, at the level these guys are operating, with the results they're both getting, where's the separation? They each have their ways of winning fights. I would say, however, that I don't think there's a heavyweight around with better footwork and movement in general than Fury - but that's just me. As for the guard - there is, again, no accounting for unorthodoxy.
I find it more frightening that you think Holmes is overrated.Usyk has 1 good win at heavweight. You better do your homework yourself then
"Unorthodoxy" is all well and good when you have 3-5 inches on your opponents, but when you don't have a height and reach advantage the need to keep things tight is bigger. But I really rate Fury as ring general as well as his reflexes and agility for a man his size. I just think that Usyk is a unicorn for someone his size. I'm not joking when say that I think he's skilled as anyone bigger tnan Loma right now and I don't know if there's any other time in history where I'd say this of a man his size. And that's something I'd said even before Saturday.
I agree with you here .. You use what you have in order to get the win .. that is all that matters is the W ... And theres no doubt with his size, his movement it is getting him these wins because of the the lack of competition .. It is clear that Wilder and AJ are not in his league .. but that isnt really saying much .. You need great competition to see how he fairs against at least equal comp. And I know you can only fight whats in front of you , but if that isnt much,, well there is a ceiling, especially after the first fight performance was average at best .. he hasnt really impressed me so far skill wise ,, As you are sort of answering your own question here ,,, "I would say, however, that I don't think there's a heavyweight around with better footwork and movement in general than Fury - but that's just me." .. I agree with this And for Wilder 2 , was it more strategy gain weight and pressure? .. or you think his skill level was noticeably better than the first performance ? interested in your analysis here
