I continue to be amazed/surprised with Wilder's power. He doesn't have the greatest technique, he makes up for it with his freakish power. I can't remember seeing anyone who can hit a single a shot as hard as he does, in my lifetime.

I know boxing isn't about having the hardest shot (e.g. if Fury avoids Wilder's straight right hand throughout the night, he wins quite easy right?), but I would like to ask where you guys think Wilder's power ranks compared to the greatest power punchers in the past?

Mike Tyson comes to mind, but I'm not sure. I haven't seen the type of power Wilder brings to the party. Against Breazale for example, it was a devastating hit and against Fury in the first fight, Fury is built like a house but he managed to knock him down.

He has to knock out someone better than Breazele or Szpilka before he can really be rated that highly. And let's not forget that Duhapuas and Washington finished on their feet.

Wilder can form a nuetron star from his bare knuckles

    Fury has a blackhole chin

He can indeed, sadly very much in keeping with his rational cognitive capabilities.

Expect fireworks one way or another in the re-match.

    1. Wlad/Wilder
    2. Everyone else

Makhmudov may have more one-shot power than either but he's not a HW champion.

Wilder is a bum and can crusher. His two best Ws were one shot KO's after he got his ears boxed off. Wilder is 80% power and 20% height. Take away his power and he's just a random bum from AL. He will be remembered as what he is: An overachiever. He's a good role model for guys with zero talent but power and size. You can make it. But we all know that HW boxing isn't necessarily a skilled division. If you're big and tough and carrying some power you can do it all.

"Even Wlad Klitschko, who is a huge AJ supporter, highly intelligent and has sparred AJ and Wilder extensively, was unable to pick a winner between them due to Wilder possessing “good power in his hands”, being “extremely fast”, longer, more experienced and very unpredictable."

Those aren't where Wilder's advantages end either: he also has agility, durability, stamina, confidence, heart, determination, fighting instincts, unconventionality and ease of underestimation. He would be extremely dangerous for virtually any heavyweight in history.

Of course. His power is real. But we saw what happened against Fury. If somebody can take away the power right and bully him on the inside he's clueless. Skill-wise Wilder is an absolute fraud. And please...stamina? Wilder has a horrendous gas tank.

He has huge power no doubt, but it is a bit exaggerated in the sense that it looks devastating against the cans he’s knocked out, yet I think he’d struggle to land that right hand against better fighters. It’s so telegraphed and he’d be less likely to commit to it the way he does if he has to worry about what’s coming back.

Fury is not your average opponent; he's the GOAT and would have stopped AJ in 5-6 rounds

Wilder was a star amateur on less than 3 years of boxing experience before he turned pro at 23 and beat an Olympic gold and world championship silver medalist in 2008, so he clearly isn't as unskilled as people like to make out

In which non-Fury fights has Wilder gassed out? He's light, doesn't throw much, confident in his abilities and chin (less pressure) his opponents tend to be intimidated by the power and he's favoured by the U.S. judges, so he conserves energy extremely well. AJ gasses against puddings with the same institutional advantages.

His power is real but his opponent have been sub par. Any top punchers would also KO the list of Wilder's opponent he KOed.

Vastly overrated and overstated. He's already slowing down. You can replay many of his fights and see him hitting many of his opponents flush and they take it easily. He's got decent power, but he hasn't exactly been in with teak tough opposition.

The power is real but so is the row of cans he knocked over.
