If Rob McCracken was anymore laid back in the corner, he would be lying on the canvas and giving introductions to Joshua.

 

I've been speaking to people about this because they were bizarre statements in the context of the fight.

And the conclusion I've come to is AJ lacks real confidence, once it starts going sideways he struggles, the tongue comes out, the smiling starts and he starts shaking his head and talking to his opponent.

AJ starts to show out, he lets everybody know things are not going well.

Also, throw in the stories, yes they are just stories and rumours but still.. the stories of AJ being hurt, dropped and basically stopped on sparring.

Now If any of those are true, combined with the Ruiz defeat AJ might just be suffering from a mental issue with regards to his chin.


So why was McCracken shouting? Maybe he knows AJ needs constant reassurance and encouragement and he knows if things start to go against AJ he mentally folds.

AJ is an "on top" fighter, some will say "bully fighter", when it's out on his and the opponent keeps coming and doesn't let him off them he folds.

 

If he really wants to help he’ll be buying the PPV like the rest of us. If Joshua has it in him to move up a gear, it clearly isn’t with Rob. Unless Joshua is unbelievably stubborn, his trainer would have sorted out his stamina issues by now. The guy is 240lbs of pure muscle.

 

A modern day Joe Frazier who would be a bit bigger would be imo a fighter that would ruin Joshua’s career. That kind of pressure style an will would absolutely iron out a fighter of Joshua’s credentials. Your post is bang on, I can’t understand why people are knocking McCracken, it’s obvious he’s trying to keep moral up, he knows Joshua’s finished mentally. At no point late in the fight say 8th onwards was Joshua capable of absorbing anything and implementing it. McCracken was spot on with just trying to keep him upbeat and nothing complicated in his ears between rounds, imagine him saying, ‘Josh, your way behind and he’s gonna up it very soon another notch so be prepared, this is where he thrives Josh’ !!!! Joshua would’ve melted

 

He needs to go all Adam Smith and keep repeating "lift off for AJ"

 

Maybe, maybe not. Angelo Dundee told SRLeonard that he was "blowing it" vs Hearns and it sparked him to a win. We've all seen
Teddy Atlas and his antics in the corner to try and get his fighter in the moment.

Maybe, just maybe, if someone like Teddy Atlas or Manny Steward would SMACK AJ in the FACE that would wake him from the funk he gets into when the other guy is actually fighting back.

It might be the straw that broke the camels back. Tbf I think McCracken is to knowledgeable to mess up by not giving him better instructions, he knows what a lot know, Joshua is damaged. I think he believed he was invincible and defeat is to hard to take, it’s broke him

 

Who was it that kept shouting that during the fight? It was really annoying! That guy was shouting brilliant when AJ wasn’t even throwing punches!

 

Something he should say before the rematch - “You should find a new trainer”.
