Ill favor Foreman but Walcott has the style and punching power to pull an upset. Walcott, punch for punch, seemed to hit harder than Ali and Young.
I think Walcott has a fair shot here. Prob punched just as good or almost as good as Lyle but was faster more accurate more stamina and better boxer….only draw back was the worse chin. But that’s a big drawback against Foreman. I’d favor Foreman but Walcott def isn’t a good matchup for George.
A fellow who hardly went 5 solid opponents without a loss and got stopped by LHW Charles and Abe "Freak Show" Simon against 70s Prime George Foreman? Got another face for that:
And Tyson lost to Douglas, And Ali to Norton. And all of them, including Young, would beat Jersey "Wait until the field has cleared" Walcott.
Walcott has a lot of good wins. More then most champions but yes he obviously loses to Ali Tyson and most likely Foreman. I’d wager a lot on a Walcott win over Douglas Norton and Young though.
A good projection would be to put Walcott against Tunney, Machen, Patterson, Johansson. Or Ocasio, maybe 199 Spinks.
Walcott beat guys like Elmer Ray and Lee Q Murray 6”3 guys who could bang and were serious contenders…unfortunately not much of any film on those guys to get a good feel on them.
