    Expectation: Moderate.

    1. Baker boxed from the opening with strong 1-2's while Satterfield assumed his crouching position. The two were quick to get it on, and I think after several seconds of heated exchanging that Baker hurt Satterfield with a couple of rights. Satterfield was then with his back to the ropes, taking his lumps. Satterfield was able
to escape from there with clinching, but Baker put him right back again with long straight hand shots. Satterfield eventually snapped a heavy right into Baker ('s stomach I think), followed by a few body shots which staggered Baker. Satterfield threw a left hook to the head, then a right, and a second left hook, and Baker went down face-first. A complete 10 for Baker.

    Assessment:
Baker-Looked strong and pretty quick for what looked like the Greg Page of the day. The fatal mistake of his being that he tried to go to war with a big puncher like Satterfield.
Satterfield-Not one of his most impressive wins on film in my opinion.

Verdict: A pretty good fight. So I will say it's a good fight. The film's not that good though, so I won't be watching it again myself.

Foster was a crippling puncher. Pound for pound definitely one of the hardest.

What does that has to do on what he said? Anyway gotta love Satterfield, love his fights so much. One of the hardest p4p punchers!

Although he threw all those shots, I think he only landed only 2 shots with the last right hand did 90% of the damage.

    What a rough brawl!
Pretty impressive knockout win by Satterfield. I checked it out that Bob Baker just lost 3times via knockout in his career. He lost against Clarence Henry (KO 8) and against Archie Moore (TKO 9) but only once via first round knockout against the small heavyweight fighter (weightwise) Bob Satterfield. I guess the result could have turned out differently if Baker had fought a little more patiently.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. NEVER saw a boring Satterfield fight. I just don’t know why people fought him. Seemed like a high risk no reward kind of gate keeper. With wins over Baker, Williams, Harold Johnson, Nino he’s got better wins then many champs. But sooo many losses.

I look Satterfield up a lot in boxrec, and these are some of the fights I've always wanted to see:

Bob Satterfield vs. Julio Mederos (3rd meeting)
Bob Satterfield 186 lbs lost to Julio Mederos 195 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10
    • "Julio Mederos of Havana mounted a telling attack on the stomach of Bob Satterfield last night and scored an upset split decision over the ranking heavyweight in a 10 rounder at the new Frontier Sportsdrome. Satterfield got in some good right hand shots in the early going but lost much of his effectiveness when Mederos began scoring with his body punches in the middle rounds. Mederos opened Satterfield's nose with a series of left jabs and the Chicago fighter bled heavily from the 8th round on. there were no knockdowns." -Associated Press
Harold Johnson vs. Bob Satterfield (3rd meeting)

Bob Satterfield 181 lbs lost to Harold Johnson 180 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

"Harold Johnson of Philadelphia floored Bob Satterfield of Chicago for a nine count in the 4th round tonight, then stood off a tremendous pummeling in the final rounds to win a unanimous decision at the Miami Beach Auditorium. A screaming crowd of 2,982 was on its feet almost for the entire 10 rounds as Johnson and Satterfield blasted each other with everything they had. A stinging exchange early in the 2nd round drew the only blood - from a cut over Johnson's right eye. But Johnson got in his best licks in the early rounds. In the 4th, he tagged Satterfield with a right and the Chicago fighter floundered on the canvas. But Satterfield came to life near the end. He had Johnson in trouble in both the 8th and 10th rounds, but Johnson back-pedaled and fought defensively to save the fight." -United Press

Bob Satterfield vs. Harold Carter (1st meeting)

Bob Satterfield 187 lbs drew with Harold Carter 194 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10

"Harold Carter of Newark, N.J., and veteran heavyweight Bob Satterfield of Chicago slugged it out toe to toe to an exiting 10 round draw tonight. Both fighters, relying on brute force rather than style, swung hard and often as they aimed for a knockout from the opening buzzer. Satterfield twice had his younger opponent on the verge of a knockout after connecting with sharp left hooks to the head. But both times, in the 7th and 9th rounds, he tired before he could muster the kayo punch. Carter was superbly conditioned and gained the advantage in the later rounds." -United Press

    Jake LaMotta vs. Bob Satterfield

Jake LaMotta 167 lbs beat Bob Satterfield 165 lbs by KO at 1:50 in round 7 of 10

Satterfield held LaMotta on even terms in the early rounds, having his best moment in the 4th round, when he "shook LaMotta to his heels" with a right hand. Satterfield did not follow up though, and LaMotta began to take over the bout. In the 6th round, LaMotta chased Satterfield across the ring with a sustained attack. In the 7th, a left to the armpit appeared to stagger LaMotta. Satterfield soon showed signs of weariness, as he dropped his hands, and began to be pounded by LaMotta who landed at will on him. A left hook to the jaw, sent Satterfield to his knees, where he fell on to his back, to be counted out by referee Dave Miller.

    Bob Satterfield vs. Henry Hall

time: 1:40 | referee: Julius Fidler

"It was a blistering battle up to the time of the knockout, with Satterfield in the lead. Hall took some heavy punching, but never lost the poise of a good fighter. He finally unleashed a terrific left hook in the fourth to end the bout." (The Ring, July 1949, page 39).

@William Walker and @OP_TheJawBreaker, thank you for posting. Pretty darn enjoyable one round. Baker's fighting style, at least for this round, looked like it would fit in as a modern style.

Only fighter I can think of to compare him to would be Cooper. But Cooper didn’t have many good wins but a lot of good showings. Strangest career I can think of to be honest.

Agreed. Cooper was the best European fighter, perhaps ever as a heavyweight, but most of his best wins are over Europeans hehe.
