They already did that. Fury is coming in to try to stop Wilder, and thats exactly what Wilder wanted. If Fury comes aggressive he will get knocked out.

 

You don't know what influence Scott has had on Wilder until they get into the ring. To me it appears as if Wilder wasn't trying to let his emotions dictate his actions. Perhaps Scott is working on that as well. Either way Fury should win comfortably and may stop Wilder again. But I am hoping Wilder sleeps Fury. I love when the fanboys hero looses. It happened with Golovkin, Kovalev, Loma, Wilder. The excuses and butthurtedness on display is joyful. I genuinely am enthralled with it.

Not sure I agree. Fury was obsessed with Wlad. Remember the story about Fury outlasting Wlad in the sauna to win a psychological victory, and Wlad was like, did that happen?

Plus he doesn't need to talk Wlad up. Everyone recognizes Wlad as an ATG. Wilder still has a lot of question marks, so by bigging up Wilder, Fury is both elevating himself and selling the fight.

 

You have no way of knowing how they work together. They may just understand each other. Scott may be able to bring something out. Who knows.

You're speaking about the physical. I was talking about the mental. To your point, I don't think Scott can change Wilder very much, if at all. Dude seems to be stubborn and arrogant. Tough combination to break through.

 

I don't think Fury hates Wilder at all -- I would wager Fury disliked Wlad a lot more.

 

I don't follow, drenlou. Fury came aggressive last time and Wilder had no answer for it.

I'm going to guess you're not basing your statement on the expectation of Wilder catching lightning in a bottle, coming up with one homerun hit out of the blue against the run of play.

So, if you were arguing that Malik and Wilder might have carefully and astutely crafted a gameplan that Wilder is capable of enacting to effectively counteract Fury's aggression and use it against him — okay, sure, theoretically, I could concede that it's some kind of possibility, however slim/negligible.

But to take it for granted, guarantee it?

Given Wilder's shortfall in teachability, especially contrasted with Tyson's ability to learn (and learn more about an opponent with each encounter), there seems a much greater probability that an aggressive Fury would be increasingly effective this time and Wilder's strategic, adaptive and technical resources barely any less limited than was the case twenty months ago. It's going to require a lot more than those padwork drills he's been proudly showing off.


And however prepared Wilder might think he is to tackle a bullish Fury this time around, he has to be ready for any other looks that come his way. Tyson has the capability to transition back and forth between approaches. He's not unidimensional.
