Then came off the scales and had a drink. Also, that Asian lad who knocks around with Booth’s lot is a full weight tit. Always shouting his mouth off at weigh ins.
I'd actually forgotten this: It is not the first time that Courtenay has struggled to make weight. Her fight with Ball last year was moved up from super-bantamweight to featherweight, a limit she still failed to weigh inside at the weigh-in. I'll be honest, when I saw that the belt had gone I did feel a bit sorry for her, against my better judgement, because the facts don't look good. Courtenay has had unbelievable opportunities from Matchroom - missing weight then losing, getting a vacant belt for 8th v 9th ranking, now missing weight for the first defence. Worse for her is that the fabled Matchroom 'story' hasn't gone down well with fans. Eddie must be severely tempted to cut his losses and invest in Bridges and Ball instead.
I used to like the way she came across at first but the more I saw of her interviews her arrogance, constant sob story and whining is annoying. Only has her self to blame for failing to make weight in what was to be her first title defence( which she didn't deserve a title shot in the first place. Granted it was an entertaining fight) against a very soft opponent.
Female boxing has been mainstream now for what, 6/7 years? first time I’ve ever seen or heard of this happening, just too coincidental
2lbs is a lot. I'm not going to say she is lying about her period as it can happen but missing weight by that much doesn't look good.
Not buying it. She's missed weight I think for 3 of her last 4 fights at the weight, she's clearly struggling at it or not preparing properly enough. If the menstrual cycle was that big of an issue with weight, we'd of seen far more of the mainstream women boxers missing weight imo.
I would assume women fighters will pick dates around there usual cycle rather than leaving it to chance by a day or two. Just googling the topic there doesn't seem to be any agreed concensus on whether a period can cause weight gain or weight loss. https://www.healthline.com/health/womens-health/weight-gain-during-period Tbh I don't even see how a women could fight while on there period considering how it makes them feel.
I think it was telling of her persona when she fought Bridges and the majority of British female fighters were all saying on social media they wanted Bridges to win.
