Fury was simply a cherry pick gone wrong. Ortiz is an old man on heart medication who doesn't have any good wins. Breazeale?
Fury was the champ and had two tune-ups prior to the first bout. And even if that *were* a cherrypick, he quite obviously was all the way back for the second and third fights. And then you have Ortiz, who like it or not has been regarded as a top 5-7 HW for the past several years. Breazeale was a mandatory, which is a concept some of y'all apparently don't understand.
In happier times this wouldn't be much to write home about, but at this point 5-7 decent fights out of 40 something is a notable career.
Yeah, but since 2018 his record is unassailable based on quality. I'm not a fan of all these rematches, tho, so from that POV he's only fought two top guys. I still think he'd be fun to watch against Joshua, Whyte, Ruiz, et al. Time is running out, but all of those guys are flawed as well.
This. If Wilder wins he'll claim he won #1 and run a mile from a fourth. It'll be back to WBC champion again - Wilders Bum Carousel champion, that is.
Rematching Fury 2 times after he beat you twice and then rematching 89 year old Ortiz after your rigged ref helped you win the first match is considered a good resume now? Go grow a new brain
He doesn't need to - he'll claim he won #1 by KO, and it'll gain traction because boxing fans are fickle as ****. He might claim that #2 was a result of cheating, but it'll be much harder for him to make that allegation stick.
I can’t see see anybody putting up money for a fourth fight regardless of who wins unless Fury and Wilder just happen to put on a legendary performance, but other than that I don’t see a fourth fight happening.
Regardless of the outcome, Fury and Wilder need to move on. There's some good fights out there for both of them.
Wilder had no choice but to take the rematch, everyone would have called it a duck otherwise. Like i said, cherry pick gone wrong. Breazeale being mandatory is not really relevant, you presented it as an impressive win, which it isn't. Breazeale is Charles Martin, Carlos Takam level, i'm not sure i'd even pick Breazeale to beat them. You are scraping the bottom of the barrel mentioning Breazeale, and you know it.
Problem is, he's correct. Chisora has arguably a better resume than Ortiz and Joshua is levels upon levels better than anyone Wilder's beaten. Yes, Usyk really does have a better resume in 3 HW fights than Wilder does in 44.
Exactly. Which when you've basically already admitted you're ducking Joshua and Whyte? Not a good look for a self-proclaimed "legendary" fighter.
