What kind of power does he have? Seems to me it's not so much raw speed power as it is sheer heaviness and strength. Look at how Wilder falls when he gets hit. It's like a wrecking ball hit him. So forceful his legs flew out from beneath him. There's a walloping brute force there that practically sends opponents flying. It just looks devastating.
Wilder was gassed out for several rounds before final ko. Fury can crack but lets not make him out to be big puncher. His performance in 2nd fight was better
That's a good point actually, being off balance would make the fall look more dramatic. But Cunningham took his punch a similar way. In the sense that it didn't merely twist his neck like most punches do... The force literally moved his entire upper body. Fury isn't the biggest puncher but it's his relative size (not just tall but a massive, proper HW frame) that really adds impact.
Its underrated power. On a scale from 1 to 10, i would rank Fury's power somewhere between 8.5-9. 10 would be the hardest punches, like Lewis's right hand, or Tua's or Wlad's left hook, or Iron Mike's uppercuts etc. Let's be honest, any man who is 270 pounds can punch if they are in decent shape and spend enough time throwing punches. If you put 270 pounds into a punch, it is going to cause an impact.
I don't get why people question Fury's punching power. Is he the hardest hitting heavyweight. No, not even close but when you let a 6'6" 277 lb man swing full force at you , you will go down if he connects. He was putting all his weights into the punches tonight.
He used to get flack earlier in his career for being feather fisted because he puts combos together, moves and doesn't put everything on every shot. Even Roy Jones recently said no one supposedly wanted to see Usyk - Fury because they are feather fisted (way wrong assessment). This doesn't mean Fury couldn't put his weight behind his punches if he wanted. He has the fundamentals, is a huge man and did that last fight and this one. Some of his jabs were a thing of beauty tonight, the put all his weight behind them, stopped Wilder in his tracks and even shook him. He also kind of lunges all his weight into shots from distance when he has you hurt and those are devastating too. At 270+ pounds, his power can be devastating, especially when it accumulates.
Probably like Mayweather not a KO artist but has enough to get respect. Against fighters like Wilder they get the ko from getting so many clean shots and in this case Fury has about 40 pounds over him.
Also worth mentioning Wilder was tired as all hell before the brutal blow. As was Cunningham when the KO happened. Fury will do that to you. Maul u, lean on u, infight with all his weight, so when those punches in bunches eventually come, the opponent is too knackered to accurately observe and react to what's coming.
He's featherfisted but makes up for it by weighing over 270 pounds, a controlled punch by any man that size is gonna hurt. A proportional power fighter at a lower weightclass would for sure be called featherfisted.
fury is 270+ and was landing hard shots on the chin and head and i think he hits really hard but Wilder has a good chin and alot of heart.
Nah. Fury is a considerably harder puncher that Floyd. Floyd landed picture perfect right hands that his opponents could take all night.
