Whyte is a decent money fight for his next fight. Should be easy work if Fury comes in 100%. Legacy-wise it might not look like much after the fact though. Probably undefeated Joe Joyce or even Michael Hunter or Andy Ruiz Jr. would mean more for legacy.
Fury could retire 10 years and beat someone of Whytes calibre. Many heavyweights currently who would beat him.
Many greats did not "clear out their division". Everyone has their own criteria, but mine certainly isn't based on racking up endless title defences against no-hopers. It's about winning the absolute biggest bouts available and he has done that better than any other heavyweight in this era, all despite having numerous personal problems, doing it on the road and apparently not having very good technique. The guy's a true legend.
It's been a tough time for many on the forum recently with Joshua being totally outclassed by what many considered a relatively inactive cruiserweight who apparently looked awful in his only two HW bouts, and now Fury winning a fight for the ages, on the road, yet again...
No, to become great he needs to beat the top contenders in the division. Whether you like it or not that’s why are. Wlad is a top, top win. I don’t really rate Wilder but that’s a good win. Who else is there? He needs these top guys to put the icing on the cake.
But beating a guy who has been dropped by Scroniers and Nicols, rocked by Molina, had his face busted up by Duhaupas and lost multiple rounds to the likes Washington, Spzilka and Ortiz - makes Fury number 1 in this era. Come on there's over a dozen guys who would get the better of Wilder in the divison. Fury need to fight the likes of Usyk, AJ, Whyte and Hunter instead of like Shcwarz Wilder and Wallin.
Wilder is tough and dangerous for every second of the fight. I know he looks ungainly and poor, but he's incredibly dangerous and I can't see most other HWs being able to negate those strengths as effectively as Fury has done. I don't really know why I'm bothering replying because you think what you think and that's that.. but here you go!
You normally have no problem discussing things, Mitch, but I have already asked you who who these 12+ men are that would get the better of Wilder. I'd be interested to hear.
The only current top 10 guy I'd be 100% confident in making a favourite over Wilder (assuming Wilder's psyche isn't damaged beyond repair) would be Usyk. I think Joshua vs Wilder is a toss up - Joshua better all rounder but very vulnerable. Outside of that I'd favour Wilder against any of the other top 10 as per Boxrec.
I agree. I would favour Wilder against Joshua, but far from a foregone conclusion. Unfortunately, people now see this as their perfect opportunity to denigrate Wilder based on the fact he has lost to Fury. Fair enough had he been battered by Rice Pudding Jr but he hasn't stooped nearly that low. For me, his standing has only risen based on that excellent bout last night. A fight for the ages takes two excellent performances, no matter how each fighter arrives at their destination (Wilder's one-dimensionality).
I would back Wilder to beat Joshua but obviously not sure what will be left of him after last night. For me Joshua has shown a reluctance to get into a fire fight since Klitschko. He really does panic when he's hit clean whereas Wilder has shown that he will hang in there for dear life and not quit and he will find a way to land a clean shot.
Fury wasn't at his best, the 2nd Wilder fight was a fully fit active Fury and look what he did the guy was incredible, however last night for me goes down as his greatest win because he wasn't fully fit or prepared whatever he said before the fight as he was coming back from another 2 years out but he showed that even on a below average performance he has the balls , desire, skill and ring IQ to keep pulling it out the bag again and again. I don't think many if any other heavyweights would have got up in the 4th round but he truly is cut from a different cloth to.current and past heavyweights and another win against joshua and usyk and I think we can start putting him towards the top.of the tree. Fair play to.wilder as well, don't like the man at all but his heart and desire can never be questioned either.
