This content is protected Really good honest interview from Malik Scott. Nice little appraisal of the heavyweight division at the end too. (not sure if it’s been posted before, couldn’t see it)
This is excellent*. Very impressed with the way Malik carries himself in this interview. Speaks very well, doesn't duck difficult subjects. Very measured, very thoughtful. *half way through, hope to finish it later.
Agreed. Malik comes across as a thoughtful, reflective person. My sense is that he may evolve into a better trainer than some seem to suggest he can be. He was able to get more quality boxing out of Wilder than Breland, who everybody loves.
Malik Scott is just trying to talk his way into becoming a full time trainer. He's all talk and no action. Wilder did nothing different out there the other night except jab to the body for the first round and then gas after 2 rounds due to being 28 pounds heavier than the first bout.
Probably. But I can't trust a man who threw a bout with his chum. A man like that is worth nothing. Wilder is at least a top fighter despite being a shill.
Great, open, thoughtful interview. Scott did as good a job as is possible with Wilder, he's got a great future as a trainer.
While he does come across as a bit of a yes men, he’s a pretty genuine and a sophisticated guy. I especially liked the part he gave shutouts to Ben Davison, who’s been brushed off since the rematch.
Malik's clearly a very intelligent guy. Always comes across well in interviews, despite me absolutely loathing him as a fighter. He's been the voice of reason for Wilder's corner in the aftermath, and might save Wilder some of the backlash due to come his way providing he's smart enough not to open his mouth and ruin it all.
Malik Scott ruined Wilder's career. If Wilder was trained by a better coach, he would definitely KO Fury in the 3rd match. Wilder made the biggest mistake of his life with hiring Scott as his coach.
Get back on your favorite LDBC channel mate Wilder could fight Fury 100 times and he would lose every single one. The Gypsy King would never lose to a dosser like Wilder.
Of course, you're assuming Wilder would actually listen to the advice of that better coach and follow the game plan that had been laid out. And you're also assuming that Wilder wouldn't throw that better coach under the bus in the afternath of Fury stopping him again. After all, that is exactly what he did to Mark Breland.
Did someone ask him why that move they practiced over in over on the pads (duck & hook to the body) wasn't even used in the fight once? It would've been useful when Fury was close. Why no improvement at all on Wilder's inside game when they knew that's what Fury was going to do? Any finally, why did his fighter only have stamina for 3 rounds?
You generally find this to be the case when a puncher has fallen in love with their power. They think all they have to do is go looking for that one shot without setting it up or working on other aspects of ring craft.
