Yes. History won't be kind to Wilder, he unequivocally possesses the lowest ring IQ of any boxer that I've ever watched at the world class level. Yet Fury for all the wizardry and brilliance that he owns had to dig deep multiple times to beat him. Fury is very good but I can't quite give him the ATG heavyweight status.

    You're right, I didn't read it .

Dropping fighters? And? that's never been enough to win a fight if a man always gets up though has it.

Dropping someone means more than nothing if you go onto lose.

Well maybe you should, there's a reason it has 49 likes.;) Including from people who aren't in love with me.

Who the **** is arguing otherwise, this thread is about TYSON FURY and his skillset, and has **** ALL to do with Wilder. Maybe you'd have realized that had you actually read it.

Usyk is a quality fighter of that there is no doubt. @Serge is a good bloke too. He knows I like him.

Usyk is quality no doubt about it . He is number 2 greatest Cruiserweight ever but should he win the rematch against Usyk and defeat Fury and Joe Joyce his ATG’s status goes off the charts.

Fury is way overrated, if you believe he's the GOAT at HW, or top 3 or could defeat ANYONE before his time. His resume stinks like 3 day old fish. Since he defeated Wlad, 6yrs ago, he's fought

    Sefer Seferi
    Franceso Pianeta
    Tom Swartz
Otto Wallin (who busted up his face like a ripe melon)
Deontay Wilder 2X and a draw, a man who 90% of the posters here claim is a bum, and who Teddy Atlas said " he doesn't know how to box" and who knocked Fury down 4 times in 3 fights.

His win over Wlad to me is like Tunneys win over old faded shelf of his former self Dempsey.

Is he arguably the best or second best current HW? Absolutely. Is he overrated? Absolutely.

Fury at his motivated best has the skills and the grit.

    He's just wildly inconsistent.

If he was a bit smaller he'd probably have picked up a couple of Ls by now.

Wilder fought the best fight I’ve ever seen from him in this bout (and by a wide margin) and Fury was lacking motivation. Therefore I think Perception of fury drops a little and Wilder’s rises. Fury has quality defense when focused but he chose to slug it out this time and therefore didn’t look as elusive. Wilder actually learned to box a little and had a game plan for once. He focused on the body with laser determination in round 1. His jab and hook were better as were his counters. His defense was still atrocious and he gassed quickly but that Wilder actually looked formidable for 6 rounds.

Great post, a perfect storm was created in which Fury has been elevated to ridiculous levels. Fury beats a long time champ nearing the end in Klitschko. The fight was ****ing shithouse, one of the worst title fights of all time, Klitschko hardly threw a punch. That's not Furys fault however and credit must be given for the win, great achievement to go to Germany and get the nod.
So, Fury gets the win and is champ but not being 'overly' lauded because Wlad so shite on the night, then he has mental issues, stops fighting and gets fat. In the meantime, Wilder gets a belt and defends it, time and time again against bums. He's American, he has a belt and thus is lifted to a crazily inflated level. In reality the dude is an average heavyweight with a huge punch but talent less as a boxer.
Fury comes back and looks shite in his comeback fights. Wilder has a bright idea, ' I can finally get a name on my resume, Fury is a wreck but I'll get name recognition. No way he can beat me, anymore'. Wilder however has a false sense of security and is listening to these media clowns who are telling him that he's the best thing since sliced bread! He no doubt underestimates Furys will to get back to the top.
Now these US media clowns have been banging on so hard about how good Wilder is that the rest of the worlds boxing pundits are starting to believe it aswell! Remember, Fury was not that highly rated by the same US media ever. Now, when Fury cleans up Wilder, fairly comfortably over a 3 fight period, what can these fools say? They hyped up Wilder, so falsely, that they have no option but to wax lyrical about how good Fury is, otherwise they would have looked and sounded like ****ing imbeciles.
Fury has gained more from a few fights against limited opposition than almost anybody I can think of in recent memory. He's done it hard, great achievement, after where he was but ****, as I have posted before, how anybody can watch Usyk one weekend and Fury the next and think he's levels above Usyk at heavyweight is beyond me!

Fury simply doesn't have the legs he used to have. He's 33 years old now. He took 2 1/2 years out after beating Wlad, that was his prime, and he aged himself with bad lifestyle. He's been further put back by recent inactivity. He's more like an old fighter now. He could have been an elite ATG, I believe, but probably hasn't enough left to achieve that now.

His skillset is as good or better than any so-called "Super-Heavy" that has come before him. He's as skilled as Lewis or Bowe or both the Klitschkos.
He's the best around right now, so appreciate him for what he is.

I think people's opinions on Fury are more down to recency bias due to his fights vs Wilder. Wallin may have give him some trouble because of the cut but Fury convincingly beat him and landed the cleaner punches.

He had been out for a long time so i don't really put too much emphasis on how Fury looked in the third fight. He didn't look amazing and took longer to get out of the gates which may be partly due to him having a long break and covid potentially having affected him.

He might be overrated but i also think Usyk in hindsight might be getting slightly overrated due to his amazing, virtuosic performance against AJ. Which is normal.

As amazing as Usyk's performance was against Joshua because he made Joshua box poorly. I still think Joshua's footwork was a bit more cumbersome than usual. He seemed a bit off and that might be entirely down to Usyk but his performance was pretty lacklustre. Joshua's confidence may have been weakened and his long time out of the ring may have also affected him to a certain extent.

I don't think Usyk is actually overrated in p4p terms but at heavyweight in the pro's he may have had factors outside of his control helping him, too. I think Usyk's performance was amazing but i also think Joshua's performance was very lacklustre. I think it was a bit of both Usyk making him look bad and Joshua actually not being confident and quite ready for the task of Usyk.

You could go back in time and criticize every heavyweight in history because they've been knocked down against a deemed lesser opponent. I don't think that's something to bash Fury on to be honest.

Unorthodox, wild swinging punchers can make it more difficult than more orthodox, conventional boxers because they're harder to read. Wilder as poor as a boxer as the majority here seem to think he is would still beat the likes of Parker, Ruiz Jr, and Whyte who get nowhere near as much criticism as Wilder does.

Which skills have people been overstated?

The consensus is that he has incredible attributes for his size and is a natural fighter. I wouldn't put him as the most skilful or as possessing the best technical ability. Jab aside he isn't making many lists for great punching or power.

Going full Liam Neeson here, but what he does have are a 'particular' set of skills, skills acquired since he was a child that make him a nightmare for pretty much any boxer head to head.

Most of it revolves around being slick where you would expect someone with his dimensions to be lumbering. And when he bothers to build up a bit of stamina he has great movement over 12 rounds. Also helps that he is tough as old boots.
