Greatest is relative the best of the bunch with a small number of fights is essentially the question. Actually a guy with few fights can be considered great it is about merit If my only wins were Prime Fighting Harada, Prime Eder Jofre and ten average guys would you call me great?

Basically impossible for a start because wouldn’t of learned near enough to beat them. They’d be the most gifted fighter in history. Actually pretty impossible considering how adaptable Jofre was.

I don't see, why someone with less than 25 fights can't be an ATG. Surely it depends on what he has accomplished in those fights?

Usyk, for examples, has so far only had 19 pro fights. What if he beats Joshua in their return, and then Fury to unify all the belts (like he did at CW)... after which he retires? His pro career would then consist of only 21 bouts - so hasn't (according to you) earned the right to be called a great fighter. Doesn't make sense to me!

It’s doing it again and again and again. Not taking six months off all the time. Louis and Holmes had that many fights in defenses.

None of these guys would last in previous eras because they’d never want to fight and only be in the gym 12 weeks in 12 months.

There aren’t really any great fighters today - it would be insulting to Sugar Ray Robinson to call them great

You don't think today's fighters would survive in the "good old days"... because they are sissies, with no balls? Is that the reason? Boxing today is of course very different from the ND days 100 years ago, but is there any reason to believe, that today's fighters wouldn't be able to fight as often as the old-timers - if that was required of them?

Also, can you answer the question... if Usyk retires, with less than 25 pro bouts under his belt, after having cleaned up the HW division, you don't think he's a great fighter?

They aren’t as mentally tough. Clearly. They won’t get in the ring unless paid x amount for a start (millions and millions). Charley Burley took some fights on an hours notice, he’d jump on the bus with his bag, after work, and go 15 against a guy heavier than him. It’s inarguable.

So you can't answer a straight question: If Usyk retires after unifying the HW division... is he a great fighter or not?

Also, can you name some of those fights, where Burley went 15 rounds against an opponent heavier than himself?

    Good post.

There aren’t a boatload to pick from, I would probably suggest in no particular order

    Guillermo Rigondeaux
    Dmitry Pirog
    Ike Ibeabuchi
    Luke Campbell
Artur Beterbiev / Dmitry Bivol however both may make it past 25 fights but times not on their side.

And I disagree with the exception of a 130-140 May and mid-2000s Pac

Ward may fiddle against Foster and Spinks but be caught up with in the 13th and 14th
