Dempsey was probably the most highly regarded heavyweight in history ; by other great fighters of boxing history. Those of interest go to Michael Hunnicutt Branford conn. Facebook to view newspaper clippings of
Love that this is post number one in this thread and David Haye found out the day before the third fight and changed his pick as a result
There's always a chance Wilder catches Dempsey at mid- to long-range, but I favor good bob-and-weavers like Dempsey (and Frazier) over a lot of these big stiffs who rely heavily on straight punches. Especially someone like Wilder who doesn't have a consistent jab against guys who show a penchant for avoiding it, has barely coherent footwork (I'm exaggerating a bit), has little notion of how to infight, and lacks technique and adaptability. I think Dempsey mauls him and stops.
Dempsey would win, because the weight of Wilder's ring walk costume would wear him down, and you have better believe that Dempsey would use horse hair gloves baby!
If Wilder can land on Fury he can certainly land on Dempsey. Unlike Fury , Jack doesn't have a titanium chin to withstand the blow. . The power would vaporize him
Fury doesn't have "titanium" chin. It is good, but not on ATG level. Dempsey's chin was quite strong on its own.
I would dispute both of your assumptions. A. That Dempsey was easier to land on. B. That Fury took a punch better.
Fury is a big target.Wilder looks good banging out upright slow movers like Breazeale.A perpetual motion, bobber and weaver like Dempsey would be a different proposition.
Dempsey was a racist, one of these so called greats that drew the color line. Wilder decapitates him.
