In fairness, Fury was clearly off the pace. As soon the fight started I could see that this wasn't the same Fury from the Wilder rematch, that the frenetic twitchiness and feints weren't there. 20 months of inactivity plus a bad camp (Covid, family problems, possible overconfidence, lack of motivation) played a big part. Fury's performance in the Wilder rematch was a lot better than the first fight where Fury was rusty and poorly conditioned due to 2.5 years of inactivity and losing 10 stone in as many months. Although Wilder landed punches early in the rematch that Fury was able to roll with, Fury ended up taking much less damage than he did in the first fight where he was gambling on avoiding a critical right hand for 36 minutes. I don't think Fury being 260-270 is a problem. Fury was weight-drained in the Wallin fight at 254.4, he made his debut at a chunky 260 lbs as a 20 year old and is now physically mature, so fully fit at 33+ he should be 260 or a bit heavier (which was his weight when he boxed Hammer at 26.5). The 270+ he was excluding clothing in his last two fights is likely on the excessive side though. I agree that Fury was too aggressive in the trilogy and that Sugar Hill is delusional and too obsessed with KO's. He believes that he will get more credit whenever Fury gets a KO as Fury never had the reputation of being a KO puncher, when in reality Fury's lack of stopping power was always stylistic and overstated (he KO'd Nascimento cold in 5, KO'd Cunningham in 7, retired Chisora and Hammer on the backfoot in 10 and 8 and dropped Hammer in the 5th). John Fury was saying recently that Tyson had become too one-dimensional with his alleged Kronk style, so hopefully he exerts some influence over Tyson here.
Fight doesn't sell... Fury takes on Whyte next, Joshua beats Usyk and rematch then we have the 90k person (sorry Froch) showdown in Wembley in the summer 2022....
I,d say usyk has a good chance. Unlike wilder...usyk can use his footwork to keep fury from doing what he did against wilder. Fury would punch then follow into him to start draining him. For a start usyk can go any which way with his feet. If fury wants to drain him its gonna be by trying to just grab him. I,ll be surprised if fury can punch then fall into usyk like he did wilder.
I think Fury demolishes him. Yeah, Usyk looked good against Joshua, but in his previous fight he struggled with Chisora, who I thought beat him. Size USUALLY matters.
Usyk would arguably be the best fighter Fury ever fought. It would be a solid matchup and one I hope happens next.
If Fury fought Loma next, it’d be the “best”fighter he ever fought, doesn’t mean Loma would win. Usyk is a great fighter, he isn’t beating Fury my man. I hope they fight just so We can get it over with, and hopefully it’s a great entertaining fight.
Fury fighting Loma is nonsensical. Fury - Usyk is probably 60-40 in favor of Fury, but that could change.
Usyk has everything that Fury has(skillswise), but he is a clean boxer that don't need to use dirty tactics to win a fight.
If the Fury from Wilder III was exactly my size and age i'd box his fool ears off, whereas Uzyk with the same handicap would stomp me easily. I think Joshua has developed enough skill to overcome both Fury and Wilder too btw.
Fury must be in shape against Usyk. He must cut his weights because I didn't like his footwork and speed in the last bout. Fit Fury vs Usyk would be badass fight imo. Fury by UD.
If Fury is fully focused and fit, he wins IMO. Too much physically for Usyk. If he comes in like he did vs Wilder in the 3rd fight, he loses on points.
