Just made official today per Top Rank. December 17th at the Bell Centre in Québec.

WBC & IBF light heavyweight titles at stake (Beterbiev's second and fifth defense respectively). Browne is the WBC number one mandatory contender, and ranked #7 by the IBF - despite being just 1-1 going back nearly three years, and with the victory he's coming off being against 20-12-1 former contender Denis Grachev who is the loser of seven of his last eight contests. :nusenuse:

Pointless match, Browne will be lucky if he sees the 3rd round.

Guys are gonna be surprised Beterbiev has been inactive, injury prone and aging.. Don’t be surprised if he struggles or even lose.. Canelo will be watching closely

Beterbiev better clean out the division before he gets too old.

I don't like how Beterbievs people are talking about his condition. He might not fight after this.

They are saying that he don't train like he used to. Probably age is catching up

Looking at some tape. Don’t think Browne has much of a chance, even at an 80% Beterbiev

Browne in last few fights looks to me very open, will need to see a different style in the ring or I think he will go down in under 8, sooner if we see a hungry Beterbiev

    Nonsense fight.

I had really high hopes for Beterbiev when he came on the scene but theres just no urgency there at all.

The thing with these guys from Eastern Europe with extensive Am. backgrounds there very well schooled but have far less time in the Pro's take make an impact.

I mean GGG really only started getting decent fights once he passed 35 yrs old because he was seen as a physical threat.

Yet on the other hand you have guys like Loma and Usyk that have managed to do a great deal despite not having many fights.

So to me the problem is with Beterbiev himself or his management not being that ambitious.

I really thought a few years ago he would have unified and it just hasn't happened.

If this is a stay busy fight before doing something greater than fair enough otherwise he is just pissing time away.

Browne has no chin and no defense in close range. He was dropped multiple times in his career and fought scared against an one-eyed Badou Jack in the second half to protect that glass jaw. I'm usually not going with that "glass jaw" stuff but Browne has no punch resistance at all. While Browne might be able to move around for the first few rounds i expect AB to slow him down with body shots and nonstop-pressure leading to a stoppage between R5-8.

He has already unified and also his team pushed for a second unification against joe smith jr but top rank and smiths team went another way.

I agree he’s been inactive and his career has been partially wasted but he’s still achieved a lot in little amount of fights.

fighter with least fights to win lightheavyweight title. The winner of the only ever unifaction at lightheavyweight between two unbeaten fighters and only current champion with a 100% ko record.

Beterbiev should easily win this despite catching Covid, breaking his rib and losing his passion/discipline for the sport.
