You can choose 3 boxers, current and past, to help you in a bar fight, who do you take?

    Thanks re: Liston and Tyson.

Sullivan may or may not be able to win in a modern ring, but we are talking about a barfight here.

Sullivan got into lots of barfights, fought under bareknuckle rules, and was trained in what was basically no-gi Judo.

Besides, half of these people are probably going to win based on their ability to hit people with bottles, chairs, or pool cues.

Liston, Young Foreman and Dempsey / Sullivan / Jeffries. Can't really decide which one, but the bottom line is to pick dangerous men with a lot of experience in such situations. Foreman would be vicious and both Liston and Foreman's control game would be on full display. The bar would look like it was struck by a bolt of lightning.

Not only that, but modern nutrition, and Sullivan was a Homo Sapien and today's people are Super Badass Sapiens. There's really no comparison.

Oh yes. The "modern nutrition" and "training methods" we most certainly haven't heard about before... bar fighting has evolved like all things and so on and so forth .

Since we're not likely to be wearing wraps and gloves in that bar, I'll take people who are used to fighting without all that. Sullivan, Ryan, and Goss will likely be a big help to me in there.

Yeah, realistically, what kind of lunatic would start a barfight with somebody whose wingman looks like Valuev?

Would have gone for Tyson and Liston but since so many have chosen them already, just to throw a few more different namers out there, I would go for Vitali, Ike Ibeabuchi and John Fury who is probably more well known to most as Tyson Fury’s father but he was a pro boxer himself as well as a well renowned gypsy bare knuckle fighter who even did time for gouging a man’s eye out in a brawl.

    Ike Ibeabuchi
A bullet proof madman who would fight all night. Was known to fight outside the ring a lot.

    Nikolia Valuev
The sheer size of the man would be a horror for anyone brave enough if they weren't detoured. I don't think a regular sized person could hurt him with a punch... So he's the teams tank.

    Jack Dempsey
Very experienced in this type of environment lithe as a cheetah and twice as fast with his hands. He'd be hitting with something not too unfamiliar to his gloves so his skill set would largely be the same he would be the one bearing the most load here. His sucker punches would benefit the team a lot as most guys would go after Valuev first and looking at Jack he'd get the lesser brawlers if they split up.

Honourable mentions besides the some of the more obvious ones:
John L Sulivan, Riddick Bowe, Earnie Shavers, Ron Lyle (If we had four he would be my pick)

Holmes, but we'd have to take it in the parking lot.

    Tyson

Liston...do I really need to explain?

I'm just gonna pick heavyweights who I know for a fact threw down outside the ring. Prowess in the ring isnt necessarily meaning prowess in a street fight (see Shakur Stevenson). Also picking guys who all coincidentally lived in Pennsylvania at some time.

    Liston
    Tex Cobb
    Larry Holmes
