What if Wilder had come in around 215lbs?

If Wilder had come in around 215lbs like the 1st fight, instead of bulking up to 238 then surely it would've made a difference. His stamina would've been much better and he carries his power all the way through. Even at 238 he had success but you could see he gassed so quickly

Wilder had previously fought total of 19 rounds with Fury, and rightly or wrongly he thought weight gain for final fight of trilogy was his best option.

Wilder reported he had excellent camp and felt good, so if the weight gain gave him positivity who are we to criticise.

Fighting a 270 plus pound Fury who is intent on beating you, will make you gas whatever you weigh.

Then he gets ragged dolled around more or likely even knocked out quicker.

It doesn't matter what weight comes in at, he's never been Fury.

    Revisionist nonsense.

If this, then that...blah blah blah... you might as well say "If only Wilder cared more about learning to box than his ego, he could have beat Fury"

Sometimes a fighter just has the blueprint to beat another fighter. Wilder never beats Fury.

You can shift words around all day long talking about weight, costumes, gloves or any other choices and it just does not matter.

The mythical version of Wilder that only exists in the minds of his fans doesn't exist. Wilder never beats Fury.

Wilder is better at lower weight, so it's possible he would have won....but we will never know now.

Who the hell bench presses for a fight...crazy decision

He couldn't beat the worst version of Fury to ever step foot in a ring when he came in light. He cherrypicked an inactive muscle atrophied drug-ravaged shell of Fury who had spent the best part of the previous three years in the wilderness and hadn't fought anyone with a pulse in all that time and he still needed a gift from the judges to save his zero.

Whether he weighs 212, 231, 238 or 2000lbs it makes no difference because he can't ever beat Tyson Fury.

he needs to learn how to box, its funny hes been a pro since 2008, and hes barely improved in all that time. unfortuabltey its too late for him to learn anything new, its such a pity he was blessed with legendary power, size, and athleticism, and instead of working on improving his skills he relied only on his god given talents.

Two things no one is really talking about re: Wilder.

    His conditioning is ****.

    His defense is ****.

I cannot believe he was diligently working on conditioning for the past two years. He doesn't even seem like he does a lot of hard sparring given how quick he gasses. His overall boxing isn't gonna get much better. He should have killed himself in the S&C realm and worked on defending against the jab and a looping right hand.

His Stamina would have drained faster due to 277 lbs Fury leaning on him...

What he needed to do was work on his LEGS! Hard to box off the back foot and set traps with no legs.

How about if Wilder instead of stupidly focusing on getting his bench press up, focused on building up his atrophied looking legs with squats and standing shoulder presses for his core.

Bench-press is one of the most useless workouts for real world strength. He's got a whole team of dummies with him.

If Wilder came in at 215lbs and threw those same punches at Rd 4 stumbling Fury bad but couldn’t knock him down because lack of power, there would be a thread “What if Wilder had come in around 238lbs?”

Fury would of rag-dolled him easier, but he wouldn't of gassed as quickly.

Probably ultimately the same outcome though.

    Probably doesnt drop Fury.

The idea of being lighter being better for Wilder from a game plan POV is dependant on him being smart in the ring and that isnt the case.
