I mean it really is the best thing for the heavyweight division for Wilder to go away. If he'd won against Fury he'd have held that belt hostage until another underdog came along to take it from him. Fury will probably fight the big fighters, which means unification can't be that far away. And if Fury loses motivation he'll just quit, and somebody else can fight for the title. WBC will probably offer it to Wilder in a joke of an eliminator if he's still kicking around. But this really opens up the division
A fitting end and I believe it will be the end. He won't have the will to fight on and earn his shot after 2 brutal losses.
It should be the end for him in the game but Wilder is a deeply flawed man. He's going to be busy inventing more fantasies on why he lost again to Fury and has enough fanboys and flunkeys to feed his delusions.
It probably won't happen but id love to see Wilder vs Whyte or Wilder vs Ruiz. . Those would be big fights I don't think Fury vs Whyte would be a big sell in America
Wilder should fight the loser of Joshua/Usyk 2, that will tell him where he stands in the boxing world.
Wilder I believe is spent goods. He taken alot of damage in the triology, especially in fight #3. He has no stamina and his punch resistance has been lowered. He went out on his shield rather than being protected by his corner and the ref. The toll of going out on his shield will be the end of his career.
Wilder has a punchers chance against anyone. He could fight the winner of Whyte -Wallin next. But I see him, most likely,, taking on Robert Helenius in a comeback boat.
What's interesting is Fury has proven what we already know. Wilder's chin is very, very fragile. Fury isn't a big puncher, he's strong and still thumps you around, but his punching power is still mid tier. To be honest, 1 punch power, I would weigh in Helenius favour. Literally, every clean power punch that Fury landed, hurt Wilder. The majority of his stiff jabs had Wilder's legs stumble. This content is protected Fury provided the blueprint - Push Wilder back, throw punches in bunches and flailing guard will leave his chin exposed. Someone like Helenius has a real chance at a dramatic upset... Will he beat Wilder? Not likely, but he has just as much of a chance as Wilder does landing a 1 punch KO against the elite of the division.
I give Wilder all the credit in the world for how far he has gone, given his fundamental limitations. But, he is a horrible person inside and outside of the ring. From the racist rants, awful comments outside of the ring all the way to attacking Breazeale in front of his family. What he did in the last 2 years to cover up his embarrassing loss to Fury has been nothing short of pathetic. He dragged the name of an Olympic medalist, who only tried to help him. He then when on to vilify one of the worlds best fighters (with absolutely ZERO proof), just after he came back from being on suicide watch. Despicable. Then he comes out, gets beaten from pillar to post, and still doesn't give credit where credits due. If I was Fury, I would be going for the jugular and taking him through the courts for defamation. Through and through scumbag.
The very first knockdown in this entire trilogy was from Wilder landing a borderline rabbit punch. The whole fact that Wilder fans made a big deal about the exact same punch that Fury landed in the second fight just showed how little they actually care about an even playing field.
A fight where almost everyone of note is praising his performance, he almost certainly gained in fans, and was part of a fight that will go down as one of the best heavyweight title fights of all time.... Fitting 'end' indeed.
Wow if Wilder hasn't got brain damage after that I will be surprised.. He jared his head so many times should have been stopped like in the last fight.. Stupid unsafe just for a bit of ego..
I'll need to go back and watch fight 1 again, I forget how the first knockdown played out. Props I'm still seeing the excuses from the Wilder fans, but none have cared to acknowledge the fact that the 'long count' came from an illegal punch and holding of the head in the first place. Anything to twist the truth and pump their boy up I guess... Exactly! Breland was well within his right in the 2nd fight, as was anyone in the Wilder corner from round 5 onwards in fight 3. Wilder has a terrible chin and possibly an even worse gas tank. Given that Wilder was that hurt from jabs I hate to think what a big puncher will do when he gets caught cold. In reality, Breland should be thanked. If Wilder was stopped like fight 3 the second time around, there wouldn't have been a third.
