I keep seeing these threads in which people are saying that they want him to fight Joshua or Ruiz. Let's get this straight, Wilder defended his belt against: JOURNEYMEN/FRINGE CONTENDERS Molina, Duhaupas, Szpilka TALENTLESS BUMS WHO FOUND A RATING Breazele, Washington SHOT FIGHTERS Stiverne, Arreola THE MEDICALLY UNFIT Stiverne, Ortiz...and he thought Fury He admitted turning down vast sums to fight Joshua to fight Fury, who he thought was shot from obesity and drug use. He isn't going to turn around and fight top five, or even ten fighters. He may come back and crush a few cans while undeservedly calling out Usyk, but the best we are going to see him in against is someone like Segei Kuzman, and even that is pushing it. I wouldn't be surprised if we started hearing him yelling "let's go champ" repeatedly at the top of his lungs.
Of course hell fight those guys, those are big money fights which will maximize his earnings. Money talks.
I don't know about that. he's a total attention *****, the belt gave him enough attention when fighting before as it was paraded as a world title fight and him as a world champion. I think his ego will see him make bigger fights or at least I hope so, I want to really know how good he is. Is he as bad as some think or as good as his fans hope, we really don't know because his resume is so thin.
Wilder is the most exciting fighter in the heavyweight division, don’t allow your dislike of him cloud your judgement. He’s never been in a boring fight. Now to address the turning down AJ fight for more money, if you recall there were issues around splits (started from 20/80 went up to 30/70) then the rematch clauses that matchroom put in place, multi fight deal that Dazn put in place blah blah blah. So when it might have been his biggest payday, fighters have a lot of pride and if they feel they’re being disrespected it supersedes any other feelings. Wilder maybe a delusional but you can’t deny he’s entertaining as they come.
Stiverne (1st fight) and Ortiz were both regarded as top 5 HWs or thereabouts, at the time. Wilder's fought a lot of bums but he's better than Briggs.
Could see him fighting AJ if enough money is on the table, I favour AJ but Wilder has a decent chance of KO'ing him with his chin.
I'll respectively disagree, Wilder/Ruiz was being kicked around already by Al Haymon if Ruiz would've gotten past Joshua a second time. That fight is there and is still a good money fight in the US and if Haymon sees $, he'll make it happen, especially considering he controls both. I believe both Wilder and Joshua's team have said despite both of their losses, it's still a fight that both guys personally want and now that both no longer have shining records or belts, they both will both be much more willing to make it happen. The bargaining chips both guys had have now spilled on the floor.
Totally agree. He hasn't fought the best of the best. Far from it. But its like watching a demolition derby. Theres no skilled drivers or anything technique but its just fun watching **** get destroyed. Its why I enjoy watching Wilder.
I would hope these losses would light a fire under his butt and he'd willfully want to get back to the top by whatever means necessary. Also, there'd be a heck of a lot more money fighting the big names over bums when he no longer has a belt to defend. It'll be interesting to see what path he chooses, and it would certainly add to his legacy if he goes out swinging.
