I am glad Wilder is not retiring - He still deserves another shot IMO.

Wilder would probably KO AJ & Whyte but Usyk would embarrass him as he'd see that right hand coming from a mile away!

Those two beatdowns were bad ones, not the sort to be repeated.

The question is, if he fights again what's he aiming for?
Does he want to somehow redeem his whole career by finally getting some decent names on his resume? Maybe, but at his age he's not got long to do it - plus he's now been exposed for completely incompetent on the back foot.
Besides which, if he was avoiding fighters with a pulse in his prime and at the peak of his confidence, why would he go for it now?

Money?
Sure, AJ is still a big payday - he probably knows he'd lose, that's why he ran a mile from that fight on multiple occasions before...
Whyte might be a decent payday, especially given the bad blood, but Whyte would come out aggressive and push him backwards and he probably loses that, too.


In fact, there's a very real chance that fighting again at all would be the boxing embodiment of the phrase "it's better to keep quiet and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt"... The damage those two fights have done could be significant, but even if they weren't he might be better leaving people to argue about whether he's a great fighter despite his **** resume than actually fight some contenders now and get blown away and guarantee he's remembered as a fraud.

 

Wilder can easily KO both Whyte and AJ. Let's not act like they can just step in the ring and walk him down. He beats Whyte and AJ is a 50/50.

 

They're both a level or two above his best win in Ortiz... He might beat them, but it's far from safe to assume it.

Wilder's resume is utter gash for a former beltholder who could've made whatever fights he wanted, within reason - look at what he chose to do with it and you get some indication as to what he thought his own level was.

Wilder's KO power is assumed based on his number of opponents knocked out, but these were often journeymen at best and not journeymen known for solid chins much of the time either.

 

Wilder should fight Usyk. He can't hurt him. So he just windmills and hopes one lands.
If one does Usyk is history and they are both on the *ss end of their boxing careers.

 

This is where MMA has the edge on not throwing its stars right to the alley after they suffer a couple loses. If Wilder is physically ok, I think he can put on a few exciting fights still. Not sure why so many Boxing fans want him and AJ to disappear so soon?

These same fans would have told Ali to retire after the first Joe Frazier loss.

 

Why retire now? He lost to the best fighter of his generation (no shame in that, but excuses need to go though) , and he’s still a top 5 HW, with the hardest right hand in the business. A fight against the likes of Whyte, AJ, Ruiz would still be highly sellable, with plenty of money to be made.

I agree completely, as long as he's not damaged goods because if he's still healthy there are some good opponents out there. As long as he's still healthy.

To deal with Wilder for Usyk might be easier than vs A.J cos Wilder is more predictable and 1 handed.
Vs A.J, regardless how you value him, Usyk needs to be very cautious from both his hands. Until A.J starts to get tired.

 

Fury or Usyk won't be able to keep all the belts for long. The IBF will probably be the first to enforce a mandatory. Wilder and Ruiz both could get another title shot.

IBF ofc is one from orgs who enforces mandos with vigor and still they might agree that unification is done as first fight.
F.e you have IBF title and will fight vs WBC title holder.

Hrgovic then most likely. Maybe.
Imagine Hrgovic vs Wilder for mando position for IBF World HW title shot vs some current champ.

 

Should Wilder retire ? No because I want to see him against one of the top fighters in the divison (has never beaten anyone with a pulse) and put an 3nd to this overhyped.

Does Wilder deserve a shot? No, He's lost 3 out out of his last 4 fights. Even Charles Martin is more deserving of a title shot nevermind AJ, Whyte, Hunter, Parker and RuiZ.

 

Hunter had fought vs Usyk for CW WBO title in US.
Now looks that IBF had offered Hunter to fight vs Hrgovic for mando position for IBF HW title shot.
Fight didn't happened.
