Honestly I think Dokes is faster and has better combination punching. At his best Dokes was a blistering puncher. Ruiz is harder hitting and tougher. Dokes was notorious for an iffy chin against big punchers. I think Dokes may win the fight until the point where he suddenly doesn't.
Dokes wins by wide UD. Ruiz has only one advantage over most top heavyweights: speed. And, he is not as fast (or skilled) as Dokes.
Dokes was faster ,I don't think his power was anything special, and his chin was probably inferior.Slight leaning towards Ruiz.
Fair post. I like Dokes myself and I think a good version of him might beat Ruiz. Average versions of either and Ruiz probably wins.
Dokes had no chin drama's at all in his prime, his chin was considered excellent. He soaked up plenty of Mike Weaver bombs and Weaver could certainly punch.
By the time he came back from drug addiction and the likes he looked 40yo from the waist down. He did perform quite impressively against Holyfield before succumbing and guys like Bowe and Ruddock were always going to be too much at that life stage.
