David Nyika will be fighting on the Parker v Chisora undercard on December 18 and will also be trained by Andy Lee.
Interesting. Apparently Demsey McKean has also moved to UK. I expected him to fight on that card also.
Yes hes been sparring with AJ and Whyte. I wouldn't put McKean in with someone too dangerous haha. I think he's a KO waiting to happen when he steps up.
Interesting that Briedis looks like he'll be heading to Australia to face Opetaia early next year. Would have thought he'd have wanted to move to HW by now.
I don't know how strong Opetaia's backers are to bring Briedis to Australia. The smart thing would be a Briedis vs Opetaia doubleheader alongside Okolie against some dude and the winners will face each other later on next year.
The timing would be ideal with Usyk there. If Usyk becomes undisputed, Briedis could be a very intersting challenge as the only fighter (so far) giving Usyk a close fight in the pros.
I wouldn't be surprised if Okolie gets NZs David Light sometime next year. A member of Lights camp has told me that Eddie Hearn has been in regular contact with his trainer/manager so jnce Light gets fully fit from his injury, I could see that fight being made later next year.
Might not so much matter where it will be. Briedis struggles with movers types attempting to outpointing him. Especially southpaws. Cieslak handlers were too much: rumored that they had offered 4X lesser than had been told in media and demanded that Briedis maybe will cover part of undercard expenses when Cieslak still had been A side lad in Poland. Sounds damn cool. IBF had ordered Opetaia as next. While I think 2 months notice is must have for fight vs old over the hill rusty Briedis. I hope that in US for example?
Sergey Kuzmin won 15 fights in a row before losing his past two by decision (last one was close, although one dodgy judge had it wide). So a fight with journeyman well-known Kevin Johnson is a warm-up to get him back on track, it's not a weird fight at all.
