Usyk wins every round, I can see Usyk landing that downwards jab over Toney's shoulder and stepping round and throwing that straight left or coming round with it wide all night
Usyk can't lose here. Way too busy and hyper for the fat HW version of Toney who wasn't exactly difficult to outbox. Toney couldn't convincingly beat Peter or Rahman. His only other noteworthy fights were Ruiz (which he did look brilliant in but unfortunately got busted with peds), and stopping a stone aged Hoylfield. Usyk could beat all those guys in 1 year.
As good as Toney is an one of the most skillful fighters of all time. He gets his stationary ass outworked and beaten easily here. He's not a CW. Uysk easy win.
While Toney was so, so much more skilled this is Usyk's fight to lose at that stage of James's career he just couldn't keep up.
At cruiser I pick Toney by close decision. Usyk had a lot of trouble with Bellew who really fought a poor man’s James Toney’s fight. Usyk was behind on points, he had a a lot of trouble with the slick style of Bellew.Toney has a chin of granit so he won’t get KOD and is much more skilled than Bellew.Styles make fights and Toney has a difficult style for Usyk.
Usyk has the skills - but more importantly, he works his ass off in the gym. Toney worked his ass off at Burger King. Usyk wins.
Yes and I've watched Toney struggle against far lesser fighters and indeed lose to them. Toney is virtually your default pick whenever he is matched up. 16 people have picked Usyk out of 17. I wouldn't be dying on that hill in a hurry.
Saying Uysk had a lot of trouble is stretch. He started slow in more of defensive posture which he often does while he looks for counterpunching opportunities. He was never hurt or in trouble at all in that fight and started upping the pressure in the mid rounds until the Ko came in round eight.
