    As it says.
Is there anyone that challenged Ali for his title, whilst he was champ, that could possibly upset Louis?

I don't think that you could make anybody a prohibitive favorite over Frazier or Foreman.

I happen to think that Louis would beat them, but it is not a given.

Also when you start to factor in circumstances such as age, some of the later fights become a bit dicey.

Are we taking those fighters in their primes, or in their form, when they faced Ali?

Well I'd say has they were when they faced Ali. In prime tho, we'd have Joe Frazier at his best facing Louis, that's certainly a tough one for Louis.

Loads of them could "possibly" beat him, none of them would be a favourite for me. I'd favour him over all of them. I don't start to favour guys meaningfully over Louis at his best until they get massive and excellent. So Vitali, Lewis, guys like that.

Patterson was good enough to beat Louis, but was really poor when he met Ali, Foreman and Frazier would have taken Louis`s shots far better than Patterson could have but neither were ever challengers for Ali`s title both were champs when they fought Ali for the title aside from the fight in Manilla when Joe looked past it.

The only one that maybe gets it, is Kenny Norton who almost beat Ali, but don't see him taking Louis s shots for 15.

    Patterson would never survive Joe.

it wouldnt be Patterson, no way.

It would probably be someone like Jimmy Young.

Jimmy was the best of Ali's challengers

He was like Jersey Joe on steroids.

slicker, quicker, more slippery. He wouldnt make the mistakes Joe made and if the judges are honest, will award Jimmy the decision

Joe Frazier had a good shot style wise but I still see Louis beating him. Patterson and Norton don't even remotely have the chin to be able to seriously challenge Joe Louis.

It may be a bummer to watch but its actually not impossible to imagine Jimmy giving joe all he can handle.
