The name of the game is prizefighting.

When you duck outside the ropes every time your opponent goes ‘boo’ you’re basically waiving a surrender flag. Ref should have stopped the fight after he did it more than once.

where does it say anything about it?

and why would Jimmy surrender when he is so far ahead on points???

    this explanation simply doesnt wash

Jimmy was brilliant in his win over Ali

You dont have to be exciting, so long as you are effective and remember, not every match can turn out to be another Hagler - Hearns

    Where does what say what?

It’s not about exciting. It’s about giving away rounds by literally trying to climb out of the ring.

And he did that because Ali was SCORING. And Ali then reached over the top of the ropes and found Jimmy hiding behind the second-row seats and SCORED.

It should have been stopped as a DQ or TKO. Jimmy surrendered.

It's as relevant as your remark.

    Jimmy Young = Nearly Man,
There's reason he never got the close calls,he never did enough to clinch the verdict because he did not have a champions mentality. He was not prepared to go that extra mile.

Young should have been disqualified for pulling the whole 'ducking outside the ropes' thing, and I like Jimmy. Glad he lost the decision after doing something like that (multiple times). Ali would have won the rematch, in my opinion, as he would have taken Young more seriously and not clowned around like he did in the actual fight.

Ali lost his fight with Young, and a rematch would have been about the same with questionable judging.

so what did Ali do to deserve to win this fight, miss punches all night and take right hands to the head?

not to mention the dozens of body blows landed to Ali's none

Jimmy Young won the Ali fight I’ve watched it multiple times. Ali looked terrible. Young countered well in a boring match. Way too much being made of Young sticking his head through the ropes. Ali crowded him and rather than clinch Young went through the rope. It was a poor tactic but Young was never in imminent danger when he tried the maneuver. It was up to the ref to make the call of warning Young, or penalizing him or ending the fight (which would of been a terrible miscarriage of justice imo) The ref didn’t do that and as far as scoring goes it’s a clear Young win on my card.
Ali was out of shape in that bout and he also didn’t seem comfortable at all of leading. This bout is a bigger robbery than Ali Norton 3.
An in shape Ali should of been able to win rematch but this version lost.

I have watched three rounds of this fight. I saw how Ali looked and knew Youngs rep and decided I was going to watch something worth my time LOL.

and perhaps in younger days he could have pulled it off. Jimmy was Ali's stiffest challlenge to date until meeting with Larry Holmes, and would go on to best Foreman
