Some have short memories on here. Wasn't the best granted, but it was okay. Matchroom served up some shite, utter shite. They are currently dishing out Campbell ****ing Hatton on PPVs.
What I found weird was the guy heading up the new look sky boxing (eubank Jr) was not even the Co main event!?
I think we should have patience with this new Boxxer/Sky Sports venture. A okay second show with some good names on the card. The placement of the breaks was very veird. Adam Smith talking about the next fight, BREAK, then the ringwalk, BREAK, the fighters getting announced...? They should have the breaks after round 1, 2 etc. I didn´t like the pictures of the DJ. It reminds me of Thunderbox a few years ago. Great to see Johnny Nelson in the studio together with Carl Froch doing the fight analysis and Anna Woolhouse was excellent.
Shows the importance of how they put the show together. Hughie v Hammer is actually a decent fight, albeit Hughie can stink it out a bit. Eubank and Marshall fights are fine-ish, I mean it was probably missing a decent British title fight/eliminator type thing. But yes it just looked really child-like and watered down. Personally think that it might take a few months but massive opportunity for Sky here, with the right promoter. The facts are they have the biggest viewership and massive crossover audience. I don’t like he Hearn’s but I get they can sell a fight and Eddie has done a good job. BUT the market share he has built is due largely to his ability to take advantage of the platform and monopoly Sky gave him. Without constant appearances on Sky Sports news and all his PPV fights having dedicated programming on main event he won’t sell as well. Fowler v Smith was a great fight but I question the number of new subscribers it brought in without the channels to sell it through.
I ve been a happy DAZN subscriper from day 1 and I have no problems with the price. The Smith vs Fowler show was worth 7,99 and I totally understand that they have to introduce PPV if they want to have any chance getting AJ on the DAZN platform.
The DJ Is the worst thing. Wtf is that about? We want proper boxing not gimmicky bull****. I sound like an arl man but why isn’t watching sport enough anymore? Why do we have to ha be all the other stuff to try and attract the Instagram crowd. Is society really in that much trouble? I’ve read things about people wanting to reduce football games to 80 mins as under 25’s attention span is that short they get bored!
Like others I also didn’t watch. Very poor quality on show and uncompetitive matches. I read on twitter that if you put £10 on Eubank, Hughie and Sav, you’d get £10.06 in return. That is totally disgraceful matchmaking. Mick Hennessy is currently the best promoter in Britain when it comes to the quality of the fights he puts on with limited resources. I would love to see Channel 5 really back him with some dough and his mainstream tv audience and make a push to become the premier promoter domestically. Would be great to see the big dog on top.
What is so special about Tony Dosh PPV and Puddings Whyte and Chisora - there has been only 2 PPV worthy fights between the three careers.
Just catching up with this card on YouTube now and agree that DJ is shocking and an unwelcome addition. Big up Jez Smith, the guys a dog.
It wasn't good, If they put the rea vs smith fight on the tv. The show would have been alot better. They might have put the main on early because so many people complain about shows finishing late.
Couldn't agree less mate. I'd rather have the gaps between fights filled with adverts, and between the rounds I'd rather hear audio from each corner and see replays of the previous round. The one thing Sky got right last night, because they ruined a lot of the AJ-Usyk undercard with adverts between rounds.
Point taken, but if I want to see a decent fight on Fite tv I have to pay 9,99 or 12,99. I still think DAZN is good value for money.
