Mikey Garcia just lost to a HANDPICKED opponent. does he just not have any fire left or was this just bad ring rust?
Slow Mike's just f***ing lazy. How many times has he taken the path of least resistance? I don't count fighting Spence as him taking a risk b/c at no point did he try to assert himself let alone win.
I was a huge fan of Mikey but let’s not act like he didn’t carefully choose his opponents since returning to boxing.. There was an obvious advantage in every fight except the Spence fight(which he thought he had an advantage in).. IMO this was deserved as he swerved any fight fans wanted to see him in to take a “tuneup”..
mikey is another example of a guy who never improved on his skills since become pro, relied on his 1-2 and elesuiveness. and when faced against guys with just as much skills, he had nothign else to fall back on.
Thats the thing he purposefully avoided those guys and even took on Spence because he expected Spence to be a brute flat footed fighter.. They didn’t expect Spence to have the speed and counter punching advantage.. But he purposely avoided Gambia, Loma, Linares, Danny Garcia this whole crop of current 140 lb fighters etc.. He was willing to fight Pacquiao only because the reward would have been worth the chance at PAC becoming beyond shot..
He looks like he could make 135 which with his frame is his limit in my opinion 147 and even 140 is too heavy for him.
