The MWs whom never ventured up to can still be used but in reality do you think Monzon would NOT be KO'd by Rahman or Jirov? I think Toney could have only improved on Toney.
Very hard to say since the jump from 160 to 175 is really hard to do and the 168 division didnt exist to try your luck before. Cant think of many past boxers atm but maybe Andre Ward if he didnt retire so soon? Currently maybe Canelo could end up on a similar path if he has success in LHW. Then even if he did win a HW title i feel like Roy Jones Jr could have been so much better if he handle that weight jump from 175 better
No. I think Jones Jr would struggle massively with Nunn, a 91 Reggie J and 91 Mike M, and even a 91 Sosa, and struggle with the fight activity. He’d struggle with Griffin too, massively.
I think Ward maybe could box smart enough to compete with Jirov, dont know if he wins since he didnt fought above LHW but i think he was big enough to handle his own. Rahman would be too much. I can see a win against an old Evander, but probably that fight ends a NC since it would be a headbutts and low blows fest haha With Canelo we will have to wait and see. I believe he is going to try his luck at cruiser if he fights Beterbiev and Bivol, for now those matchups are too much for him until he proves he can compete up there with bigger guys than him.
Ezzard Charles. He started at middle and while There wasn’t a super middle class in those days if you were 168 then you were a light heavy. He beat way more top dogs than Toney did. As for him going the distance with Rahman and Peter, well he survived 15 with Marciano and took punches from Louis, Walcott, Moore and Elmer Ray beating all those guys ( Louis was past it. )
Ward possibly but let's not forget he started out at 168 (unlike Toney who was champ at 160). Canelo no I do not tthink he would do well at heavyweight at all
