Does Tyson Fury need more world title defenses to enter the IBHOF some day?

You've kind of answered your own question. Yes he does

ATM most people rate Fury based on H2H rather than resume.

 

Yes, if Fury wants a solid legacy he needs to fight top 10 fighters.

 

He definitely needs more wins over top opponents and title defences to be considered an ATG.

I think dethroning Wlad by outboxing him and coming back after 3 years out and beating Wilder 3 times to become champion again, along with his amazing story, deserves him a place in the HOF.

He's definitely a HOFer already for his story, personality, entertainment value and memorable wins, but not an ATG yet.

Beats Joshua
Beats Usyk
Becomes Undisputed - (Unless he's stripped due to trying to make the Joshua fight happen, which means it wont really matter because no one will care, as he'll be seen as undisputed anyway)

Therefore he'll have more title defences, and have beaten all the best in his era.

No he isn't lose. Beating Wlad and Wilder was impressive, and will definitely bolster Fury's resume, but they alone aren't enough.

The only World Heavyweight Champions, I believe, who are eligible but aren't in the Hall of Fame are Carnera and Moorer.

You win the World Heavyweight Title, you pretty much get in. Some have made it in with no successful defenses. (Sharkey. Baer. Braddock. Johansson.) Vitali made one successful defense (Danny Williams). So did Schmeling (Young Stribling) and Liston (Patterson) and Willard (Frank Moran).

 

There definitely is a gap of unfulfilled potential to make more of a mark on Boxing History.

He has only one link in the HW belt. Usyk has more belts than he does.

If....IF...he defeats Usyk and/or Joshua we can have a reasonable debate, but right now, beating up a guy who is routinely
called a bum and unable to box doesn't get you there. Neither does winning a fight vs an unknown Swede who opened up a
47 stitch cut on your face in a bout that against ANY OTHER BOXER would have been a TKO loss.

Had Ali fought and defeated only Rudi Lubbers, Brian London and Jean Pierre Coopman (the Lion of Flanders) he wouldn't be in the HOF either. It's the level of the boxers you defeat that counts. So far, Fury has only 1 (ONE) decent win on his resume, and that's against the age Wlad.

 

Tyson Fury has won all the belts at heavyweight. He's got them all in his trophy case. He's never lost any of them in the boxing ring. He has two RING championship belts signifying he's won the lineal title on two occasions - against Wlad and Wilder. He only lost the Ring designation because he retired.

All of Usyk's belts were taken from Fury by sanctioning orgs. Usyk, Joshua, Ruiz, Parker, Martin didn't beat Fury for any of them.

Tyson Fury is the World Champion. He beat the two longest reigning champs of his era to win them.

Fury is a lock for the Hall of Fame now.

 

I think he’s definitely done enough to get in.

Lineal champion (there’s only 1 or 2 Lineal HW champs who aren’t in the HOF), only HW in history to win all 5 sanctioned body titles (WBA,IBF,WBC,WBO,IBO + RING mag). Multiple RING fighter of the year awards (only a select few HWs have accomplished this feat).

Is beating someone like Whyte really going to make an impact on his legacy when it’s all said and done? I don’t think so.
