Yesterday there was some new quality footage from Ezzard Charles fights agianst Bob Satterfield, Coley Wallace and Harold Johnson.
The Wallace fight has some close up footage at the end, the Satterfield fight is the same as some other previously uploaded but with better quality and the Harold Johnson is an improvement on previous footage quality wise, it's great to have better quality on that because you can see some nice moves from Johnson and Charles, to me it appears Charles has slipped some around that time.

    Footage ends at 01:19:57

Enjoy and discuss, i love this era of boxing and i'm an Ezzard Charles super fan and would.like to hear things about his style and technique, enjoy:

Just my opinion, but comments about his technique and style.
    His technique:
I watched Johnson - Charles and IMO, Johnson was more disciplined and had better footwork than Charles. I thought Charles looked a little bigger and a little faster, but his footwork was not as "sound" as Johnson and Charles was off balance more than Johnson. I've noticed in the Charles fights I've seen that he often moved his front foot and left his back foot behind. Charles was a talented fighter, but IMO that's a flaw that can be exploited by other good fighters.

    His style:
Charles seemed to have a lot of energy and didn't give his opponents time to rest. I haven't watched a lot of Charles' fights, but I can see why he is a fan favorite, the kind of guy who is offensive minded and doesn't mind getting hit to land his own. From the excerpts of video I've seen Charles seems to be "offense first."
***A lot of what I've seen have been "highlight" videos that didn't show the entire fight.

Is it true that Charles claimed that Satterfield hit harder than Marciano?

    The best of the best.

He was a rare breed of Cobra to chase off a Mongoose.

Charles said Satterfield hit him harder than Marciano,Bob certainly swung for the fences!
Charles looked a bit wild and sloppy against Wallace ,maybe he thought he could afford to be? Johnson looks pure class to me.
Thanks very much for posting this.

Don't fighters of significance always say who they beat hit them the hardest? Charles is no different.

Yeah but it's also in his book that he said Walcott hit him the hardest, which is completely believable.
