The boxing world has some of the worst cases of amnesia. I guess people learned nothing after Whyte got destroyed by Povetkin and had to do a rematch to settle the score with a fat old man who nearly ruined his mandatory status. If Whyte was smart he wouldn't have agreed to the Povetkin fight nor the wallin fights to begin with. He should have put his foot down and demanded the wbc give him his shot next or strip the current champion. Fight some bums to stay busy, don't constantly fight dangerous contenders every year.
Wallin has done nothing to earn a shot. He beat Breazeale and that's his best win? An out of shape Breazeale? Needs to do more than that I'm afraid. Whyte has been waiting for a long time, he deserves a shot more than anyone else at the WBC. Wilder has blown his chance, Ruiz doesn't deserve it, Whyte has done enough for me.
Not too surprised Whyte called it off, let's face it, he knows he's risking a huge payday with Fury against Wallin.
Nah, it wasn't a draw. In round 5 or 6, Wallin poked Fury's cut, it pissed Fury off, and Fury dominated the fight after that. Fury won by at least 3-4 rounds.
Whyte lost his mado slot twice so far. First time was when his A sample came back dirty. Second time is when he got stretched out needing an oxygen mask by povetkin.
7-5 to fury is good too. That's still better than wilder ever got in his 3 attempts. Wallin deserves a rematch. Whyte don't.
I've seen the whole fight, I remember having it close after 5-6 rounds, but after Wallin poked his cut, Fury became a lot more aggressive and the output from Wallin was a lot less frequent, and he was being backed into a corner. I may rewatch it.
Please do rewatch it . That fight was closer than anyone fury wannabies want to admit. Wallin was landing a straight left down the pipe all night long and Tyson couldn't adjust.
Look at all these fan scorecards. The judges and most of the fans had it to Fury. Closest scoring was 115-113. https://eyeonthering.com/boxing/tyson-fury-vs-otto-wallin
Looks like the fans and judges interpretations were spot on. It was close until the 2nd half of the fight where Fury stepped it up to 2nd gear. And besides, even if you consider it a draw, we all know Fury wasn't taking the fight seriously anyway. He showed up and was lack luster for the first 5-6 rounds until he got pissed off.
