I misread your post, sorry for that - I back my insult. Yes, I'd bet on Wilder but I don't think Wilder's competition is above Lyle level. Also, Lyle faced much better competition than Wilder. Do you disagree with this as well?
At least Lyle bet ring ranked fighters who we not old. How many did Wilder beat? You avoid my questions un-purpose. Sure-sure Wilder would almost upset Ali and Foreman and what about the other fights Lyle beat. I listed the name and he absolutely fought in a talent rich time. PS. I think Wilder is on PED's, his manager makes him avoid it by picking lower talent offering the other guy who's either fat/ old ar not ranked shot payday, but only if they do nor reveal drug tests. Yes this happened.
Really? I would say that nobody ever talked about Wilder’s power the way fighters talked about Earnie. Arreola thought Vitali Klitschko hit him harder than Deontay, and Fury believes Wladimir had more raw power than Wilder as well. Shavers, on the other hand, was, according to the likes of Ali and Lyle and holmes, a harder puncher than Foreman, liston or Mike Tyson.
Wilder had a broken hand and a torn bicep and stopped Arreola faster than Vitali did. And Fury has called Wilder the hardest puncher in history. He didn't call Wlad that. Wlad didn't drop Fury four times, twice for a nine count (long nine counts).
https://www.google.com/amp/s/metro....wilder-power-wladimir-klitschko-12239057/amp/ "But, you know, I don’t think he punches harder than Wladimir Klitschko. Wladimir had a massive knockout punch and won a lot more fights than Wilder. Make no mistake, all heavyweights punch hard. And we can all knock anybody out.
That was two fights ago. This was 10 days ago. https://www.premierboxingchampions.com/news/fury-digs-deep-win-unforgettable-classic-over-wilder “If you mess with fire you’re going to get burned,” Fury said. “I’ve had three fights with the biggest puncher in boxing history and he caught me twice in the fourth round." And Fury outweighed him by 42 pounds (Fight 1), 42 pounds (Fight 2) and 39 pounds (Fight 3). There was a two-pound weight difference in Klitschko-Fury. Wilder's earning that reputation while giving up substantial weight to everyone. But I'm supposed to believe a Ron Lyle who is going 10 rounds with a used up Jimmy Ellis, getting dropped and going 10 with Scott Ledoux, and going 10 rounds against 8-0-2 Stan Ward is going to KO Wilder? Lyle wouldn't have weighed more than Wilder. Wilder would have all the advantages.
Wlad never meet Arreola but I see that's an error. Arreola fought Wilder years 8 after Vitaly, unranked and out his prime. And with a few losses on his resume. If you want to be factual Wlad was 39 when he fought Fury and unlike Wilder wasn't stopped twice. The Fury that fought Wlad fought was in shape. Now Fury is fat.
Right. The injury did not happen in round one so Arreola judgement on Vitaly hitting harder is legit. Wilder fought Arreola 8 year after and he was on a losing streak to every decent fighter he meet at that time.
A losing streak? Arreola went 11-3-1 (two losses to Stiverne) between Vitali and Wilder. With two fights later being changed to a NC because he smoked weed. Arreola's record between Vitali and Wilder was better than Lynn Ball's entire pro record when he knocked out Lyle in two.
Wait admit how shop worn the Arreola that Wilder beat. Stiverene beat no one besides Arreola. One of the few ranked guys Wilder actually beat. The 2nd fights was a joke!
Ellis was better than any version of wilder skill wise, even the one who fought Lyle in 1974. Against Wilder, it would be a slugfest, not a boxing chess match. And Lyle was pretty damn dangerous in this kind of fight, look at his fight with big george or shavers. I just think Lyle would prevail in this case, i just think he has more advantages. Wilder might have been a little more faster, but ronnie was a stronger and a harder puncher as well.
Wilder has proven himself to have a lion heart as time's gone by. However I still think he's extremely limited apart from the big right hand he simply doesn't really use his physical gifts. Lyle was one tough cookie, he took huge shots from Foreman and Shavers so was used to being in the firing line and his fundamentals were decent plus he had a decent engine, better than Wilder's who seems to gas pretty early on. I think this would be a great slugfest with Lyle prevailing probably after taking a trip or two to the canvas.
Jimmy Ellis couldn't beat Boone Kirkman (one of the Toronto Five) at that point. Ellis lost a decision to him. You guys need to give it up. You're comparing a guy (Lyle) who barely cracked the top five and only stopped about 60 percent of the guys he did KO ... with one of the greatest punchers in boxing history who went undefeated for 12 years ... held the WBC Heavyweight Title for five years ... and made 10 successful defenses (including a two-knockdown successful defense against the current World Champ). Ron Lyle never won anything. Forget going unbeaten for 12 years. Lyle didn't even fight for 12 years. Forget a five-year reign. Ron Lyle never went five straight years in his career without a loss. Forget getting stopped by the largest World Champ in history. Lyle got knocked out by Lynn Ball. I know some of you over-inflate the 70s heavyweights. But the norm that decade was far more Frazier-Daniels, Norton-Middleton, Bobick-Wepner, Ali-Evangelista and Lyle-Ledoux type fights than Ali-Frazier. Lyle doesn't do anything Wilder hasn't seen before. Lyle never fought anyone like Wilder. He certainly never beat anyone like him. I'll leave it at that.
