I object to the idea that Whyte deserves a shot at Fury. He had a final eliminator 12 months ago and lost. It's not a terrible fight but it's a 90:10 fight in Furys favour. Basically a decent keep busy fight for him before Usyk.
You make good points. Aside from that, you'd think a 'lone wolf/outsider/hard luck kid' who's so accustomed to having to fight the system every step of the way would have more ethical fiber than to screw over a fellow rogue elephant hungrily seeking an opportunity to elevate his status. So I'm sure we'll see Whyte live up to his "anyone, anytime, anywhere" credo and reschedule this bout... R-r-right, Dillianbros?
We're acting like Fury is planning to fight twice over the next 12 months. If the AJ-Usyk rematch is in March, then that would leave the winner ready in time for Fury's next fight in October 2022 (at the earliest). I can easily see Whyte getting passed over again. If we were smart we'd ignore fighters who don't fight dangerous contenders every year, so unfortunately it's only when fighters are dumber than us that anything interesting happens. Whyte vs Wallin was very interesting. It's a shame that the top level of the sport is set up to reward not fighting. To me that's a bigger problem than too many belts and weight class proliferation.
Sitting as a mandatory for as long as Whyte has, not surprised to see him not want to risk it. Far from the first to sit on it. Shouldnt have ever scheduled a fight anyway.
Believe me, I am not a fan of "marinating" fights and the best taking forever to fight the best. In fact I made a thread point out how frustrating that is for us fans. But the facts of the matter are that Whyte is the rightful #1 contender and should have gotten his shot a while ago. It simply doesn't make sense for him to keep fighting dangerous opponents every year, losing, then whining about how the champions aren't fighting him after he gets tied up with rematches to settle the score when he didn't need to take such fights to begin with. I do agree the wallin fight was interesting and Im disappointed it didn't happen.
Funny how Whyte was taking the **** out of Browne for pulling out of the Babic fight by putting a voiceover to one of his videos basically having Browne admit to being a b i tch on the voiceover, but now Whyte has pulled out and there is just as much evidence Whyte pulled out because he was scared as there is Browne for the same reason
Son of a *****. Wally would've boxed him into Bolivian. He got brutally KO'd by old Povetkin, then rematched a walking dead version, now inactivity, yup he's ready for the best, what a clown. Fury or Wilder stretch out this fraud in about 3 rounds.
That's the WBC way with mandatories Stiverne was inactive when he fought Wilder as a mandatory Breazeale was inactive when he fought Wilder as a mandatory The common theme is the WBC
Well thats too bad. Was actually kinda looking forward to this. Way more interesting a fight then Fury vs Whyte, which I have 0 interest in.
Well the thing is, he was mandatory and then got put to sleep in the ring. He deserves nothing, and should have to work his way back up the ranks. I pray that he doesn't get a shot at the title until he does so.
Obvious fake injury but I am happy about it as I think Wallin would've won. Now we get to see Fury humiliate this ass clown.
Just cancelled my DAZN subscription. I'm not hard up for £7.99 but just pissed off with Eddie lately. All this 'game changed' bollocks then he puts on the same shite cards as beforehas started to grate on me. I was watching an interview the other day with him slagging sky PPVs off when he has been responsible for all the drivel PPVs with them over the years. I think it was the same interview that he mentioned tickets are still available for the Whyte fight- when with Sky he always smuggly announced that they were sold out. Then surprise surprise, the fight gets called off. Now that Joshua is out of contract with Sky he suddenly wants his golden goose to fight on PPV for DAZN to line his pockets. Although now that he's seen without Sky's backing Whyte's pulling power has been severely diminished he will probably do a u-turn and try to keep Joshua with Sky to squeeze as much out of him as possible. Wouldn't surprise me if he tries to tie Sky in with a long fight deal with Joshua knowing that he will probably get beat by Usyk again. I hope Tyson Fury starts fighting in UK through Sky just to teach Eddie a lesson
