Actually, I think you will find there was an issue with the UKAD A-sample, but the B-sample was clean. So by the rules he didn't "pop-dirty", it was all based on a "leak from UKAD" But if you want to pretend he should still be banned, let's talk about sweeping things under the rug: Whyte won a WBC title eliminator in 2016. Stiverne popped dirty back in 2016 before his interim title fight (+final eliminatory) against Povetkin, Povetkin also popped dirty. But WBC ignored this, and Stiverne was installed as mandatory by the WBC in early 2017. Skipping over Dillian Whyte... In late 2017, Molina was serving a UKAD suspension when Breazeale was allowed to fight him in a WBC title eliminator. Again, skipping over Dillian Whyte... If you don't think Whyte deserves his shot, hate is clouding reason at this point
This is not directly aimed at you, I'm just picking up the conversation thread. The WBC by their own rules need to have a mandatory title fight once a year. We already know that the WBC consider the mandatory position transferrable along with the interim title (see Stiverne v Breazeale). So it makes sense that Povetkin should have become mandatory when he beat Whyte for the interim title, and Whyte regained the title and mandatory position in the rematch. Or mandatory status is non-transferrable, in which case Whyte is still the mandatory anyway. Or there is the third option, which people seem to be inadvertently suggesting. That the mandatory position resets to zero. And we have to start with initial title eliminators, followed by final eliminators again. But considering Whyte fought his initial eliminator in 2016 and a final eliminator in 2019. That would be a pretty ridiculous situation, and doesn't align with the WBC rule of a mandatory title fight once a year.
From what I recall, they took their sweet time with that, dragged out for around five months. To clarify, I'm not crucifying Whyte for using something (my position on the issue of performance enhancing drugs in boxing has been stated in other threads), I'm questioning the integrity of UKAD. That same organisation's timing in popping up with Fury's positive — almost eighteen months after the fact, long after explanations had seemingly been accepted and long after Fury had gone on to fight in a whole other bout (for the championship of the world, no less), and smack dab in the middle of a media witch-hunt — marked it out as a nest of politically beholden vipers working hand in glove with the undeniably corrupt BBBofC. Does Dillian 'deserve' his shot? On paper, I guess. But do I care if he doesn't get it? Not really, because the run that got him here is strewn with asterisks and strokes of political favor even if you set the PED pop aside (which I do). If it happens that he gets in a ring with Fury, I'll enjoy his humbling for what it is, but I can live without ever seeing it. Whyte is overvalued.
I agree that Fury has the measure of Whyte. Regarding UKAD. They have form for taking ages. Fury failed a test against Hammer. He then fought Klitschko. Then UKAD released the findings of their investigation. Molina failed a test against Joshua in December 2016. The UKAD ruling and provisional ban came through on October 2017, and the media weren't made aware of this until May 2018. UKAD have a process they go through. The fighter gets to defend themselves. Whether we think he is guilty or not, careers are on the line. So, it shouldn't be trial by media. The WBC knows this, but they attempted to strip Whyte of his mandatory status based on a rumour published by the American journalist Thomas Hauser. I think it is no coincidence that the WBC are moving forward with Whyte's mandatory claim following court proceedings being started against them by Whyte's lawyers.
Chicken **** cop out by Whyte but an understandable one. It was a high risk fight for Whyte who already holds a mando for the WBC belt. Bad news for the fans. I wonder if Fury will even fight him or just drop the belt. If he drops it it may end up being Whyte - Wallin for the belt. That would be an interesting twist. In any event it was a cowards decision.
I had money on Wallin and I haven't been refunded yet. Matchroom also told his team nothing definitive yet. Are we sure it's cancelled? I hope not
Fury and Whyte both popped dirty and UKAD didn’t have the recourses for the legal battle that followed either. It is what it is. Whyte tested positive for dianabol and everyone knows it. Know he goes to Portugal to cycle his peds
Well unfortunately as I pointed out, your opinion on whether or not he actually popped dirty is just that, opinion (it may be true, it may not). The WBC applying a double standard is a matter of record
