Only fair. Hearn wanted to see x-rays from a fight he didn't even promote (Dubois v Joyce) so lets have Ducker Dillian's please. The Matchroom cult was also demanding proof of Fury and Povetkin's positive covid tests.
Yeah, he forced a still visibly sick man to fight him in a rematch because it said rematch in the contract. Wallin also has a contract.
Good point. I hate this kind of inconsistency. Unless Whyte's next fight is against Otto Wallin, I am firmly in #TeamWallin going forward. And I'm one of the mugs who has bought Whyte's last two PPVs and would have re-subbed to DAZN for this bout. Boxing really does need some kind of independent arbitrator for this kind of stuff. The governing bodies are too easily swayed and have too much of a vested interest, the promoters are all totally self-serving, and the public mudslinging is so undignified. Never thought I'd say this, but the arbitrator who forced Wilder-Fury III was a model to follow. Both sides accepted the judgement and got on with it. (Yes I know there's various theories on it being a stitch-up between PBC and Top Rank to humiliate Matchroom, but just go with my idea here please) In this scenario, it'd be a simple statement from Matchroom: "Whyte is injured, we want to cancel the contract and compensate Wallin. We will submit all evidence to the Independent Boxing Arbitration Committee for consideration. There will be no further public comment until the matter is judged" and from Salita: "We believe Wallin is entitled to meet Dillian Whyte next and his contract is still valid. We will make representations to the Independent Boxing Arbitration Committee and will present our case accordingly". As it stands, this feels like it's going to end up as a shitty deal behind closed doors that embarrasses the sport and loses us a damned good fight.
They could have swapped Chisora and Whyte's opponents around with Whyte facing Parker in Dec - not any real difference in abilities and War Chisora could plod away 2 months earlier.
Surely not another - DAZN UK is falling apart. Terence Harper in a World Title Defence headlining this show unless Brook v Khan step in to save the circus
Why would you be happy with this? I get the bit about fighters getting paid etc but that's short sighted. Surely it's no secret the more dross we swallow the more they'll serve. Until people vote with their feet/wallet there's zero incentive for anything but more of the same.
Well anyone who has sold the number of ppv buys Whyte has surely has to have something about them that appeals. Only one name was selling more and that was AJ. It wasn't just the sky hype machine that created those buys as if that was the case Frampton vs Quigg should have sold 750k + considering how much Sky put into that fight.
If it's true what you're writing then it's incredible how Eddie Hearn's boxing shows have started to fall apart after Matchroom left Sky Sports.
