This interview is really striking. During Fury/Wilder 3 it was clear that Fury had total respect for his trainer. He's surely the most bulllsh*t-free figure in world boxing. Can you think of anyone you'd want in your corner more in a critical situation? This content is protected
Yeah, a guy not laid back about his fighter taking bombs from Wilder just because he ''likes KO's''. He would have got most fighters KO'd in that last fight, only Fury's special qualities carried him through. Also someone who has more sophisticated tactical advice than ''Jab RH, be the big dog, the big dog wins.''
I mean Fury has had let me think 8+ "substantial" trainers during his career and worked with even more and sparred every man and his dog. There isn't much you can teach Fury at this stage. He is an experienced veteran, who teaches others more than he gets taught himself. The fact Fury has kept showing more cards to his deck almost fight by fight during his career has been remarkable and unique. It looks like he's FINALLY reaching his limit though as he starts to fall off his physical prime. The stand out thing I've seen Fury has learnt from Sugar is the stiff arm full bodied jab, a very important and powerful weapon. That's an ATG jab possibly even the best jab of all time if he keeps honing it and utilizes it more WITH his supreme footwork. That alone was worth it. Fury Usyk are the only men who can beat one another and yes I believe the rumours to be true that Usyk is not born from a mother.
Wilder is a wierdo who is a constant danger. Fury can always box from range but that's not their gameplan for Wilder. Constant physical pressure. Fury showed in the 2nd bout the perfect tactics and form, applied smart pressure 3rd bout his form wasn't there and he couldn't execute the tactics as well, the smart pressure became more gun hoe. Still got the job done. Not Sugars fault.
