I'm not sure i'd even have him top 20 of the 'noughties' let alone top 20 of all time. A weak 168 division - not sure if he gets undisputed here it's going to be better than what Ward or Zags did @168 before him in reality. Aside from controversial win over GGG at 160, who did he really fight there? Winning 160 in a catch-weight from Cotto then vacating on grounds he not a 'natural 160' to age out his mandatory GGG Never really dominated @154 - close vs Trout and highly controversial against Lara Borderline fix / cherry pick on Kovalev for a 'token' 175 belt - yet didn't hang around for Beterbiev or Bivol The whole Clenbuterol / tainted meat saga A-side / diva / stacked-deck dubious judging (even going back to his schooling by Floyd!!!) Canelo just has too many question marks in his resume for me, and the decent names he has got on there often don't stand up to scrutiny IMO. Anyways, that's my 2c. Getting undisputed against Caleb Plant? Ward and Zags must be mighty frustrated by that given who they fought @168
As a doubter, who has Canelo's struggles against Jose Cotto, Lara, and Trout burned into my mind, it's been hard to come around on Canelo, but i'm getting there. Top 20, no, but top 100 for sure.
It was an automatic suspension. They have since revised their rules because at the time the NSAC did not take into account the meat contamination problem.
Those two wins, assuming Adelaide Byrd has nothing to do with them, i.e. they are unquestionable wins, would I think put him in consideration for top 50.
What's your point? Fury got busted and used an excuse that doesn't hold water. The meat contamination problem in Mexico is recognized by the International Drug Testing community. That's all that matters.
